Plants are a self-replicating food source given to us by our loving Creator for our nourishment, medicine, recreation and sustainment.

They are not "alive" in the Biblical sense.

This is nonsense...sorry!

Ok then...
Since animals have feelings, we can't eat'm....
And evidently the damn plants have'm too....
So logically to survive, and make sure all plants and animals never get mirdered for food,

We should just eat each other till only one remains, dies of old age, and the planet will be better off!

Good grief, this makes me want some black rhino, medium rare, with a side of redwood.

And I for one am happy to go to the grave believing in the proclamations of my beloved creator, whom I have never met or seen and never will. Save that I will in the afterlife - if there is one. (Otherwise, you know, I've kind of wasted my own individual thought and wisdom but I'm prepared to throw that away on the gamble).

“The living being had no need of eyes because there was nothing outside of him to be seen; nor of ears because there was nothing to be heard; and there was no surrounding atmosphere to be breathed; nor would there have been any use of organs by the help of which he might receive his food or get rid of what he had already digested, since there was nothing which went from him or came into him: for there was nothing beside him. Of design he created thus; his own waste providing his own food, and all that he did or suffered taking place in and by himself. For the Creator conceived that a being which was self-sufficient would be far more excellent than one which lacked anything; and, as he had no need to take anything or defend himself against any one, the Creator did not think it necessary to bestow upon him hands: nor had he any need of feet, nor of the whole apparatus of walking; but the movement suited to his spherical form which was designed by him, being of all the seven that which is most appropriate to mind and intelligence; and he was made to move in the same manner and on the same spot, within his own limits revolving in a circle. All the other six motions were taken away from him, and he was made not to partake of their deviations. And as this circular movement required no feet, the universe was created without legs and without feet.” -Plato

You’ve got to be kidding me, right? You honestly equate the anguished thrashings of a cow hanging on the slaughter line with that of a stalk of corn ready to be gathered? The repetitive, compulsive swaying of an elephant chained in a circus car with emotional life of the hay with which she was fed? The tortured screams of a pig as the knife is dragged across his throat with a blade of grass as the mower hits it? You honestly do not differentiate despite all obvious indication that animal life and plant life are not equitable in terms of awareness and suffering?

How is it that you get through life? Understanding as you do that each adorable Brussels sprout on your plate has been beheaded with such wanton disregard? A house salad must be viewed as a murderous crime scene to a sensitive being such as you; a crudité plate must seem to be a veritable genocide. How is it that you’ve survived so long without fruits, vegetables and grains? If you do eat these things, how do you quell the voices in your head of all the plants you have plundered that shriek, "No! Not me!Please don’t take my life for a boring little stir-fry! Aren’t I worth more than that?!?"

We are instructed repeatedly to tend to our flocks, mind our herds, treat our animals well, etc. (Proverbs 27:23, 12:10,Genesis 1:28, etc.) Can you show me a verse that says to treat plants with dignity because they have feelings and are alive?!

The *life* of the flesh is in the *blood*! That's why animals were sacrificed, to atone for sin, before the Lamb of God was slain, that replaced and made perfect the payment for sin (sin requires death as the penalty). Plants don't have blood or life!

Plants wither, they dry up, they are planted, harvested, they fall away, but they never die. Not once in Scripture!

Am I going nuts? You people are telling me not to think bad thoughts toward a PLANT because I will hurt its feelings??!

Yes. Plants have life and feelings too. Science has proved it now but these things are stated in many ancient texts.

This does not mean vegans should start eating cows or any higher sensed beings. The reason for being vegetarian is this:

1. Plants have fewer senses than animals(mammals) and humans. When you eat vegetables you are not pulling the entire tree but just a part of the tree which regenerates...Like plucking your hair which does pain but not result in death of the plant. That is the reason to avoid root plants and green leaves extracted by killing the plant. Fruits and dried grains are the best options as the plant is already dead when you harvest the grains and fruits once eaten releases the seeds to bring out another plant. Again not killing the plant.

2. Animals of higher sense like mammals have emotional bonding with their kids so when you kill a cow or a goat it affects its babies or vice versa. Such emotional drive towards its seedlings is not there in plants. Humans are the most social animals so killing a human is the highest sin which is recognized by majority of the religions but most fail short there.

3. There are people who have achieved the highest spiritual status by abandoning all kinds of violence by completely stopping to eat. It is a difficult task for me and majority so I would stick to being as non violent as possible...

Else why should we not start eating our babies....which we are on the path of....I see abortions as one step closer to cannibalism...In fact I have read news about it in North Korea..
 Quoting: spritual Atheist

Ever heard of a carrot? A potato? A Beet? You're gonna tell me that you are not KILLING that entire plant, when you you pull it and eat it? There are thousands of plants that must be KILLED, in order to eat part (or all) of it.

"2. Animals of higher sense like mammals have emotional bonding with their kids so when you kill a cow or a goat it affects its babies or vice versa. You are ACTUALLY going to bring sin and religion into this, even though it was God Himself, who told us which animals we should eat?

Ever read God's dietary laws in Leviticus? How about the story of Noah, where God specifically gave him permission to eat animals?

"Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs." Genesis 9:3

How about the apostle Paul, where he said:

"For one believes that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eats herbs. Let not him that eats despise him that eats not; and let not him which eats not judge him that eats: for God has received him." Romans 14:2-3

There are additional bible passages that make it perfectly clear that it is not "sin" to eat meat. So don't try and take us down that path... 10-4?

"3. There are people who have achieved the highest spiritual status by abandoning all kinds of violence by completely stopping to eat. It is a difficult task for me and majority so I would stick to being as non violent as possible...

Oh, for crying out loud! Now you are trying to equate eating meat with "cannibalism"?? I think you've long since ran out of "logic". And so WHAT if some people reach a high state of "spiritual status" because they have abandoned all forms of "violence"?

Many OTHER people have reached the highest peak in their spiritual lives, after a successful deer or elk hunt!

Get the hell out of here with your garbage. And God Himself, according to His own word, agrees with me.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54779011

If you did not read or understand what I said...eating grains and fruits and then vegetables...I did not say to eat roots...Also if you believe in the fairy tale that God created everything to be exploited then you are rightly screwed by the TPTB because your God created you to be screwed and exploited by these people. So accept the order of your God and accept the slavery of the bankers and the military industrial complex as they have been created to rule sheep like you.

God or anyone cannot create an ounce of matter....the day you realize that you will set yourself free. The creator theory is made to exploit weaker beings in the name of God. It is sad that you believe in a book which was written by people under the influence of the people who actually killed Jesus...May Jesus give you the right knowledge...

Humans are the most social animals so killing a human is the highest sin which is recognized by majority of the religions but most fail short there."

Else why should we not start eating our babies....which we are on the path of....I see abortions as one step closer to cannibalism...In fact I have read news about it in North Korea.."

Re: Plants have feelings..? have memory, respond to pain, human drugs & even telepathically. Drop that Salad & check out these experiments!
Geez, animals feel pain and now plants? Yikes, that certainly limits things.

Don't go telling me that rocks have feelings too! I can't make it though taking another dump after sandstone and shale for lunch.

Yes, microbes, parasites, and bacteria all feel pain, and have intense emotional feelings as well.

Rocks... are generally as dumb as a rock, but they do feel pain, so do not eat them!

Ever heard of a carrot? A potato? A Beet? You're gonna tell me that you are not KILLING that entire plant, when you you pull it and eat it? There are thousands of plants that must be KILLED, in order to eat part (or all) of it.

What a fucking tool you are...

But then again, going to the church makes you a christian as much as going into a garage makes you a car.

Oh yeah... You are a libtard.

Never mind.

Truth, logic, and reason, is just like Kryptonite, to the libtard mind.

Very painful, I'm sure.

P.S. - Very amusing that you should lecture me about my behavior, since you are the one using terminology like "fucking tool."
