I don't understand why this isn't pinned. This is the most significant threat happening in the world today which will effect absolutely everybody on the planet in one way or another and all we get pinned are threads on obamacare.

If true, the caldera could be preparing to erupt. The detection of the He4 is significant.

If this thing were to blow, it would devastate the US and basically kill millions of people directly or indirectly due to starvation, disease, etc.

Yeah I will be watching this thread. That massive amount of Helium is released from the melting of ancient rock (volcanism) that has been stabile for eternity.

Think sbout it, rock that has been sitting around for hundreds of millions of years is suddenly being melted!

2He or 4He) is a non-radioactive isotope of the element helium. It is by far the most abundant of the two naturally occurring isotopes of helium, making up about 99.99986% of the helium on Earth. Its nucleus is identical to an alpha particle, and consists of two protons and two neutrons.

Alpha decay of heavy elements in the Earth's crust is the source of most naturally occurring helium-4 on Earth. While it is also produced by nuclear fusion in stars, most helium-4 in the Sun and in the universe is thought to have been produced by the Big Bang, and is referred to as "primordial helium".
