And I'm not exactly the most religious type you'll ever meet.

I don't know of anything that could break down and explain why this is happening sure there is speculation but nobody can prove anything, including me I can only prove this is indeed ongoing still I am expecting a new round of Earth Expansion - with the extra matter, coming from the lower astral condensing directly into the physical - how the mechanics of this would work is anyone's guess - maybe seasonal!
