He should have encouraged the protesters not to destroy property and throw fire bombs, perhaps Berkut wouldn't have been beating them. But Berkut should have arrested them and detained them, not beat them. |

As the most high profile representative of the Maidan movement to come to the Crimea peninsula since the conflict began, Petro Poroshenko attempted to enter the Crimean parliament to start a dialogue with officials. Besides being a current member of a parliamentary committee charged with researching European Union integration, Poroshenko has also been a mainstay in Kiev’s Maidan movement, regularly seen supporting demonstrators there while also making speeches in favor of closer ties to the EU. Poroshenko also owns Channel Five, one of the television stations here most closely associated with Maidan, as well as one of the largest companies in Ukraine, Roshen Chocolates, lending him the nickname, “The Chocolate King. He said his mission was "to do everything not to allow an escalation of violence" and to stress to the Crimeans that they were fellow Ukrainians and that Ukraine must not be divided." [link to www.thespec.com] Of course, sure, just give all of Ukraine to the Crimean protesters; and be sure not to divide it. Why should the muslim capital of Ukraine and the source of the protesters be separated from the rest of the Ukraine? That would be stupid. NOT! |

Oh I forgot, you girls don't do that anymore. [Your rights are] "wherever we're willing to draw a line and say 'you cannot come across this line or I'll kill you.' That's where our rights are. If you don't understand that, folks, then it's beyond my capability to explain it to you. They will get away with whatever you let them get away with. And until you draw the line and you're willing to die for what you believe in, they will keep taking and taking and taking and taking, until there is no more left to take. Then, it's all gone, and you're a slave." -bill cooper |

They should have arrested them all as soon as they started throwing firebombs and possibly before that when they were setting up barricades and setting tires on fire. |
