F-15

The F-15 was created with the primary mission of air-to-ground strikes, and it can carry a variety of guided and unguided weapons on its underwing and centerline pylons. The F-15 has a specialized fuel compartment that allows one to attach two separate fuel packs that are each called a "fast pack". These packs allow the F-15 to carry more fuel on the plane to be used when the central fuel supply is gone. It also allows it to stay in the air longer without refueling. Each pack provides 8,820 more pounds of fuel to be used for extended range. The F-15E has a top level of speed, at high altitudes of 1,650 miles per hour. Its maximum rate of climb at sea level is 50,000 feet, and its maximum range is 2,762 miles with a full fuel tank. The F-15C can fly faster than the F-15E at 1,665 miles per hour, which is 15 miles per hour faster than the F-15E. The service ceiling for the F-15 is 60,000 feet. The F-15, also known as the Eagle, has the power to accelerate in pure vertical flight like a rocket, and it can climb over 98,000 feet in less than three minutes and sustain extremely high G turns. The aerodynamics of the Eagle allow it to reach speeds up to Mach 2.5, along with stability at high angles of attack. One draw back to the F-15 is that it can fly faster than its design G loading, which is why a warning system was added to remind pilots to reduce their speed.

F-16

The F-16 was designed as a light-weight fighter with a very high power weight ratio for good performance, a fly-by wire control system, and a semi-reclining pilot’s seat for a good field of vision. The F-16, known as the Fighting Falcon, can serve as an air combat fighter but has also developed into an exceptional multi-purpose fighter. Its maximum level of speed at 40,000 feet is more than Mach 2 or 1,320 miles per hour. Its service ceiling is more than 50,000 feet. The F-16 has a joystick and throttle in the cockpit. On these two levers are the most important things, such as the radio transmission switch and the weapon release. The F-16 has excellent turning abilities and capabilities which has made it an outstanding and highly used multi-purpose fighter plane.
