Austin Police at it again: 2 Girls Publicly Beaten, one unconscious, POLICE ON SCENE REFUSE TO ARREST PERPS
The whole incident was caught on video.

Two girls were beaten in public on 6th Street in downtown Austin last night. Police on bikes arrive and refuse to arrest the perpetrators (who were still on scene) despite the victims saying they wanted to press charges.

This is the same police department who arrested a girl for jaywalking not too long ago. Yet, they refuse to arrest these violent criminals.

Sorry I don't have a better link - this has not even made the local news yet. I don't have a facebook account, but was able to view the page. Looks like the video is not up on youtube yet.

I suspect it has more to do with Austin not wanting to increase their "violent crime" statistics. If violent incidents do not result in arrest, they are probably not entered into the public database, making violent crime stats appear lower than they actually are.

Austin loves to pride itself on its low violent crime rate. In actuality, I wonder how many violent crimes go down like this one.
