United States 03/12/2014 03:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Obama Changing US Overtime Rules The idea is not too shabby, but can he do this on his own? Legally that is? Just because you have good intent doesn't make breaking the law right. (I stole the bread to feed a baby...) So is he allowed to do this? If so, then I say good. It will be one of the few rare times that I agree with the bastard. WASHINGTON — President Obama this week will seek to force American businesses to pay more overtime to millions of workers, the latest move by his administration to confront corporations that have had soaring profits even as wages have stagnated. On Thursday, the president will direct the Labor Department to revamp its regulations to require overtime pay for several million additional fast-food managers, loan officers, computer technicians and others whom many businesses currently classify as “executive or professional” employees to avoid paying them overtime, according to White House officials briefed on the announcement. Yup. most "salaried" exempt are expected to work 60-70 or more a week. If you don't then you are a 9-5 er andwork bankers hours. I worked for an employer that was so intent on not paying OT they chase people out and made it a "time management" problem if you were working and had to finish up something. This was based on a premise that "the could be sued for overtime" years later. (for leaving 1-3 mninutes late. So for most employers they will refuse to pay time and a half and lean on workers to get done in 8 hours which takes them about 9. So it will have the opposite effect. We are slaves simply. |

Quoting: krosty Yeah you are right there... A place once tried to do this to my husband which would have effectively cut his wages in half. He got another job elsewhere. You get what you pay for. |
