Anonymous Coward User ID: 14385938 United States 03/17/2014 10:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Some things: my sister is now married to a woman, after 20 years married to man and two children. She was her son's scout leader at the time her relationship started, and had to keep real quiet and worry about anyone guessing, or if she would have to lie. Her son became an eagle scout so this was a big deal. But why march in a parade? I don't get it. Is it just the exposure to champion gay rights and end discrimination? Why don't fat people march in a parade to end discrimination against them? And why be prevented from marching in a parade, like any other group? I'm sure there's firefighter groups, and shiner's and 4-H groups. Is it specifically because they have a political agenda, which asks for partner's rights, and they are fighting for changes in laws that many object to? I don't see why they should march in a parade, I don't see why they shouldn't. I just don't get the whole thing. |

Why do they feel the need to march about everything? Get over yourselves, nobody cares you're gay. Woohoo, we get it, your proud. I'm proud to be Irish but I don't march in pro-choice rally's to make sure everybody knows... |

If it were a parade for political agendas or sexual preferences, then OK. But that's not supposed to be the objective of the parade but rather a celebration of St Patrick's Day. . One of the most important aspects of conspiracy theories is being able to discern when there isn't one. Oh yeah, like you'd understand anyway. Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?. . .J. Handy |

BxMac (OP) User ID: 54215455 United States 03/17/2014 10:34 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've gone to this parade with my grandfather, my father and siblings, and now I take my children. We're going downtown in about an hour and I hope it won't be our last year at the parade. After the debacle of the Macy's Thanksgiving parade and their bending-over to ensure the gay agenda was inserted, I can say with certainty we won't be attending that next year. I hope I don't have to say the same for the Pat's parade. Love that thing, but this year could be it. Looks like old Pat missed more than a few snakes and they're coming back to bite him in the ass. |

Quoting: BxMac It's held every weekend at Home Depots throughout the country. That comment makes no sense. I am sure there are gay people in Home Depot, working or as customers. I just don't know who they are because we don't discuss sexuality there, but hardware. The St. Patrick's Day Parade is not for sexuality either. If some gay people are in some of the groups that march there, fine I don't care and I don't need to know it. There's no specifically heterosexual group in the parade, and there should be no specifically homosexual group. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but should it be called St Patrick day procession. I use to see them when I was younger. Was in a couple one was of the holy spirit procession. And then you drink after at the feast. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 11424438 United States 03/17/2014 10:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Guinness Beer will not sponsor the New York St. Patrick's Day parade this year because gay and lesbian groups are prohibited by openly marching and carrying banners/signs announcing their sexual orientation. Quoting: BxMac Behind the headlines is always the truth and this is no exception. What reports fail to detail is that the infamous Stonewall bar (a gay bar in the village that is credited with being the location of the gay rights movement in the 60s) threatened to stop serving Guinness in their establishment if Guinness was a sponsor of the parade (those gay bastards must drink a lot of Guinness). They shook Guinness down and the bastards folded. What a crock of malarky. The parade doesn't care if you march/skip/sashay/down Fifth Avenue lighter than a checking account after Jon Corzine has been in the vicinity. They simply disallow formal gay designations (i.e. banners/signs). Their call. Their perogative, Bobby Brown, but, as always, it's money that matters. And the agenda marches (or doesn't) on. Boycott Guinness and eat a ChickFilet today. Dye it green, bitches. I'd much rather have a beer with foam, than a piece of chicken with foam added. So all you gay haters eat that Chick-fil-A till ya choke! |
