 Quoting: Gregor Samsa

okay lets make this the headline, ebola is quiet, maybe too quiet.....thxs for following/info.
 Quoting: The Nihilist

Not that quiet. I'm digging into Ebola today. I want answers on that Sakatoon man!!!! I almost guarentee he has the new strain and it is being kept hush hush. Last update I received was on the 28th he was still in critical condition with failing organs. Anyone think he still alive 3 weeks later??

Anyways, I tried posting this last night but for some reason my tablet wouldn't let me. It looks like the National Guard has ordered Ebola test kits for all 50 states: [link to www.youtube.com]

 Quoting: dyin

News about the Sakatoon man, was officially halted by the Canadian government in late March or early April. There is a poster on this thread who has a relative that works at the hospital that treated him, but her last update on the situation was also in early April. The news about the DOD test kits was posted about 20 pages back.

The Ebola virus has claimed 61 lives in Guinea out of 109 laboratory-confirmed cases since January, the government said Saturday.

So, I wonder. When the new death count goes too high, will they have to "clean the figures" again?

That is foolish. Counting only "laboratory-confirmed" cases when so many who died aren't being counted is a confidence drainer.

It appears that bureaucracy and politics are now running the show and public health be damned. The tourists aren't coming! No taxes!

Ministry accused of falsifying information on MERS cases
Saudi Gazette report

JEDDAH — A Saudi poet who contracted the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) has accused the Ministry of Health of falsifying records on the number of patients afflicted with the disease.

He also threatened to reveal the actual figures on the increasing number of patients with MERS.

Mohammad Al-Dehaimi told Al-Hayat daily that he had a 39.9C fever and tests showed he had contracted the disease...

Ebola has killed 61 in Guinea since January: official

I've also noticed that they make it seem like 61 people have died in 4 months, so no big deal. They don't tell you the rate of infection.

They only win if our fears are confirmed and this goes global, and we die from it because we aren't prepared. They're doctoring the numbers for whatever reason (though we all know it's about money) they consider important enough to risk a global pandemic. All we can do is watch, wait, hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Guinea

As of 18:00 on 16 Apr 2014, the Ministry of Health (MOH) of Guinea has reported a cumulative total of 197 clinical cases of Ebola virus disease (EVD), including 122 deaths. To date, 101 cases have been laboratory confirmed, including 56 deaths; 43 cases (33 deaths) meet the probable case definition for EVD, and 53 cases (33 deaths) are classified as suspected cases; 24 health care workers have been affected with 13 deaths. Clinical cases of EVD have been reported from Conakry (47 cases, including 16 deaths), Guekedou (117/80), Macenta (22/16), Kissidougou (6/5), Dabola (4/4) and Djingaraye (1/1).

Here is the reason for the Guinea numbers...

"The biological analyzes can now be performed quickly, balances not take into account the confirmed cases," said Dr. Keita.

He stressed that suspected sick and dead people were counted "several times."

so if they have trouble counting right, how can they have the whole situation under control. whatever, good luck to them.

THIS is what is going wrong.

[link to www.euronews.com]

Remember the little 12 year old girl who died in Ghana? This article says that not only, did she test negative for Ebola, she testing negative "any common viral fever".
"Common", being the key word here.

You see the hotels are empty in Guinea, they are having some pretty major economic issues because of all this.

Wouldn't it benefit the gov't right now to take advantage of the fact that there were a lot of negatives?

That girl in Ghana presented with bleeding. She died a day or two after entering the hospital. Yet she tested negative for everything they had in their lab to test with.

But what they didn't have to test against, was the new strain.

This could get VERY dangerous. A gov't more intent on saving their economy than saving their people is a bad thing.

Hell, if the WA people think this thing is over, they're gonna go back out in the wild brush and start making bat soup and bbq bat kabobs again!

It's in the creatures in the forest now. Not going away, and NOT being detected by the Ebola tests.

Re: >>>EBOLA 2014-15 >> Latest News and Updates for MERS, Ebola and other spreading nasties<<<
Experts warned that if "appropriate circumstances" arise, the Ebola virus could be transmitted to Europe if not contained in Africa.

Experts said that if the right circumstances exist, the Ebola virus could be transmitted to Europe if not contained in Africa; and considered that international organizations should "close border" and contain the outbreak in central Africa. The warning came in the XVIII Congress organized by the Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology, in which 1,300 specialists try the latest experimental developments and care for diseases such as influenza, HIV and AIDS, sepsis, tuberculosis or hepatitis C.

Don't know, and since they are not going to report suspected cases/deaths, how many cases are not confirmed is going to be unknown from now on. Or at least that's what they are saying. They will only release confirmed numbers, and since the test is suspect, who knows how many are infected.
