I think they are also going with confirmed cases/deaths vs suspected cases/deaths. So that would take the number down also.

yes it is look at the deaths it say 122 and then the guinea Gov. have the death total to 61 this tell me that the situation is out of control and like BZ said we are all fucked also this outbreak has been going on since dec. and they just get around to looking at the records Bullshit.

That is foolish. Counting only "laboratory-confirmed" cases when so many who died aren't being counted is a confidence drainer.

It appears that bureaucracy and politics are now running the show and public health be damned. The tourists aren't coming! No taxes!

I know, but every headline about ebola in the msm is this new number. The other numbers are in the article, but who really reads the whole article these days. Its like 1984.

So I was listening to the CNN blurb about that Delta flight at DIA. Shortly into it the anchor says a passenger stated they all had to be sprayed with water before departing the aircraft. That seemed strange to me, is that protocol for bomb threat on an aircraft?

I've also noticed that they make it seem like 61 people have died in 4 months, so no big deal. They don't tell you the rate of infection.

They only win if our fears are confirmed and this goes global, and we die from it because we aren't prepared. They're doctoring the numbers for whatever reason (though we all know it's about money) they consider important enough to risk a global pandemic. All we can do is watch, wait, hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

To date, 101 cases have been laboratory confirmed, including 56 deaths; 43 cases (33 deaths) meet the probable case definition for EVD, and 53 cases (33 deaths) are classified as suspected cases; 24 health care workers have been affected with 13 deaths. Remember the little 12 year old girl who died in Ghana? This article says that not only, did she test negative for Ebola, she testing negative "any common viral fever".
"Common", being the key word here.

You see the hotels are empty in Guinea, they are having some pretty major economic issues because of all this.

Wouldn't it benefit the gov't right now to take advantage of the fact that there were a lot of negatives?

That girl in Ghana presented with bleeding. She died a day or two after entering the hospital. Yet she tested negative for everything they had in their lab to test with.

But what they didn't have to test against, was the new strain.

This could get VERY dangerous. A gov't more intent on saving their economy than saving their people is a bad thing.

Don't know, and since they are not going to report suspected cases/deaths, how many cases are not confirmed is going to be unknown from now on. Or at least that's what they are saying. They will only release confirmed numbers, and since the test is suspect, who knows how many are infected.
