The UK used Doppler Radar on the already found debris in the water, they just tracked its current location via satellite.

I believe, although not certain, that Inmarsat is the company that receives live satellite data from airplane engines made by Rolls Royce.

From my understanding, they received engine data from the plane and were able to triangulate the position of the last transmission of said data.

Do I believe this? It is possible but I won't believe it until I see parts found.

It is irresponsible for authorities to declare these people as dead, assuming this story actually happened as it did. So it is either that this story didn't happen and they already knew the outcome and what they are going to tell people or that this storey actually happened and they killed these people themselves.

Inmarsat provides geostationary based satellite data and telephony to handsets, maritime and airborne terminals. Quite good I might add, much better than iridium, I have it myself.

one thing about inmarsat service is that the terminal must get and maintain its gps fix to know what bird to use, and it sends this to the satellite.

In short, airphones and over ocean internet.. not roaming cellular over terrestrial networks like gogo inflight.

This works any place in earth sans polar latitude and where obstruction to the bird is a factor (indoors and underwater)

Strange - military radar track every object in the sky around the globe 24-7. Flying at 100 feet or 50,000, they track it.

They would certainly track a jet flying off course and not transmitting. No fighter jets scrambled to investigate the large object flying to no particular destination in the Indian Ocean?
