Newtown-Sandy Hook Community Foundation predicts lawsuits against Lanza estate
"There really is nothing we can do," Barahona said. "The estate is in probate and it's likely to be there for years to come. I also imagine there would be lawsuits against the estate at some point."

Lawsuit?

You mean to tell me there will be an actual trial, two sides presenting their evidence, two sides cross examining the other sides evidence, and jury deciding based on evidence presented, testimony, and the credibility of those testifying?

Or is some one simply to read from a telepromter. And all are to take that as fact and to never question or else have charges placed against you for harassment.

Why would the estate be in probate for "years"-is the surviving son unavailable to settle it?

As I understand it both the people named to inherit it refused or some damn thing. Yes--Nancy and Peter's brothers:

"Starks had been assigned by Probate Judge Joseph Egan to search for Nancy Lanza's will and to file an accounting of her estate. Starks has yet to file that accounting, although in a letter to Egan he said that he had identified $59,000 in liquid assets that belonged to Nancy Lanza as of Dec. 14, when 20-year-old Adam killed her in her sleep before driving to Sandy Hook Elementary School and murdering 20 first-graders and six women before killing himself as police closed in.

Nancy Lanza's will originally made Peter Lanza her beneficiary and executor. But the couple was divorced in 2009, removing him as a benefactor or executor.

Nancy Lanza, who was 52 when she died, listed her brother James Champion as well as Mark Lanza, Peter's brother, as alternate executors of her estate. However, both men submitted letters to the probate court indicating that they did not wish to serve as executor. Neither specified why.

Because the executors named by Nancy Lanza refused, Egan named Starks as the administrator of the will."

Just bizarre. Hell, I'll take it. Any (nice-ish) piece of property is worth owning and doing something good with. I don't buy them refusing ownership, unless possibly the could be sued somehow by being connected to it?

Where's our legal eagle when we need civilized information instead of scoldings ;)

"...estate will be in probate for years."
"...school will be held as a crime scene indefinitely."

Remember, too, that Newtown is a place where you don't have to prove death in order to put someone else's belongings in probate (Hoagland).

I found it odd in some of those articales how families voted to put a playground there? If any of you really cant picture the surroundings then let me be the one to tell you that a house would not fit in there in the slightest bit. BTW what is with all these Playgrounds being built all over the state?

I have been thinking the passed few days to take a trip past there house and snap some shots now that things have considerably died down. would do u say? Not that big of a deal But Ill do it. everything in Sandy Hook is close. Get across town in 10 minutes.

Wouldn't Ryan Lanza have something to say in all of this? He may not be the executor as Nancy's wish, but since her divorce, was Ryan not a beneficiary?

That's what I thought. Peter had quit claim deeded the house to Nancy so he should not be part of the conversation. It was her house and her house only. Peter had no rights to it anymore.

So Ryan is the only logical beneficiary.

Maybe we will get a deposition from Ryan soon???
Is there a chance we could get some honesty up in here?

But apparently Ryan was not named as beneficiary vis-a-vis the Lanza property; Nancy named her brother, and Peter's brother.
