So I find an incredible irony that you use Washington as your arguing point.

The United States government – we the people – gave 1870′s settlers a promise of an open range for cattle if they would homestead and ranch on the land recently annexed from Mexico. The Bundy family answered that call and have honored their part of the contract ever since. In 1993 the Clinton administration unilaterally decided to completely rewrite the original promise conditions and, like so many treaties the U.S. has signed with so many, we simply threw the original promises in the trash and told the Bundy family to take it or leave it! In this case one and only one rancher, Bundy, told the government he was holding the government to its word. What we have seen then since 1993 is that the word of our government isn’t worth a damn. It seems those 1870′s settlers were told, “If you like your ranch you can keep it.”

What is clear is that it has happened.

Imagine you live in the country and you have several neighbors, and your families have lived on their respective homesteads for generations. In the middle of your properties is a vacant lot where your ancestors put in a playground and made a park. All the neighbors pitch in and help maintain the park, mow the grass, fix the equipment, build fences and walking trails. All the neighbors and their children go out and play in the park on the vacant lot, and this has been the case for 5 generations.

In fact, you all were here back when this land was just a territory not claimed by anyone. Your ancestors saw the .gov move in and annex everyone creating a new state, and along with that came a new tax, a property tax on their homesteads. Later there came a sales tax any time you and your neighbors bought and sold produce from their gardens. And after a time another tax was created on the money you made from profits from selling things from your garden.

Now you are grown up and your children play on the vacant lot with the neighbors children and .gov comes around and says "we are creating a new agency, and we are going to create a new tax to pay for this agency. You and your neighbors will pay this tax and in return, this new agency will maintain the vacant lot, mow the grass, mend the fences, fix the playground equipment. You no longer have to worry about that, it's a new public service we are going to provide with your new tax."

All is well for a while, but over time they do less maintenance, the weeds are growing up, the fences are falling over. But the agency is growing and they all have brand new 3/4 ton trucks, they are arming themselves with the latest weaponry and paramilitary gear, and their salaries and bonuses are skyrocketing. After a while they stop any improvements at all. They don't even mow the grass. But the tax keeps rising as they hire new troopers who they send out armed, through the threat of violence to enforce the rising tax on you and your neighbors. In just your generation they have created a new agency and a new tax, and it has devolved from a public service int a simple collection agency.

They tax you now not to pay for the maintenance and improvements they promised, but to pay their salaries and for their toys, and to pay for troopers to go out and enforce the rising tax they need to pay for their agency.


This is analogous to the bundy situation, and the public outcry is less about sympathy for bundy, it's more about people getting sick and fucking tired of hyper-inflated bureaucracy and a government that is out of control. That and the extreme corruption in our federal .gov.

The whole point is the BLM is a federal agency that muscled its way on to the land of a sovereign state under a phony pretense. Nobody else pays the grazing tax because everyone but Bundy has been driven out of business by the BLM since they showed up in the mid 90's over a damn turtle. Dont even get me started on the cronyism involved with Harry Reids friends that get to build in this same desert.

The question is not whether Bundy should pay a tax to the BLM, it's whether BLM has any authority to be there taxing and regulating Nevada residents for using land in the state of Nevada.

It's not about one individual, it's about state rights and an overreaching dictatorial federal government.

So who elected the BLM?

So how is it that the BLM can aim loaded weapons at citizens?
