The earthy sign of Virgo is represented with an upper case of the English alphabet 'M', with a little coiled appendage attached to the right side (as shown in the picture). Virgo is the only female representation of the zodiac and stands to represent the Roman and Greek goddesses of Ceres and Demeter respectively. Its glyph is said to represent one of two things. It is either a figurine representing the human intestines or it is a crude sketch representing the ovaries, vagina and uterus. As Virgo is usually prone to stress related digestive problems, the intestines seem like an apt zodiac symbol meaning. On the other hand, being the virgin, the female reproduction system can also be the intended meaning of this glyph. Virgo stands for health, diets, hygiene, healing and medicine and so, either of the body parts can fit in with it.
