Everything in the universe affects everything else gravitationally, but asteroids/comets etc. are so small compared with something like the moon that their affect is totally negligible. Look at the moon, it's covered with huge craters - it's been hit by many many huge objects (and certainly just missed by many more) and yet it is still there, orbitting happily away. It will still be there long long after all of us have gone so why spend your time speculating on highly improbable disaster scenarios? There are more interesting things to ponder than phantom fears. Reality is more fascinating than any pseudo-science. |

More likely, because of their size, the asteroid would be affected by the moons gravity. I dont know the first or next thing about astro physics but had an interesting thought. What if, BIG IF. The gravity of the moon tugged on the asteroid enough for the roid to make a 90* turn around the moon for a direct hit to the earth. Similar to the "Road Runner Thrust Manuever" from the movie Armegeddon.. Hahaha... No probable I dont think, but hey. Strange and foul shit is in the air. Lessons learned today, are problems prevented tomorrow! One should not worry about tomorrow when there is plenty to do today!! |
