charting human depravity, thanks Google!
I had never seen this function on google before; Apparently it searches through books written over the last few centuries up to the current day and age for specific words. Once it finds the words it creates a graph charting their usage. I wasn't terribly surprised to see the steep decline for words such as justice, and liberty, integrity, prayer, God, nature, wisdom, love etc.

here are a few links

Then you can try a few such as cookies, sex, kill, hate, anger, masturbate, feeling, food, dollar, prostitute. I'm not a Christian, but that sure looks like depravity to me.

I think regardless of our faith, our minds have over the years become attached to our comforts and pleasures and lost sight of whats really important. The Founding Father's realized the outcome of this mentality and wrote much about it. Too bad they don't teach any of that in skoohl.

Words such as spirit, soul, faith, hope, courage, patriotism, have all steeply declined too.

You'd expect that in a Science based culture.

over the past 20 years, while the "bad words" have been on an incline, there has also been a resurgence in the words god and religion and jesus and words of the like. its no coincidence. religion fuels our hatred of each other. its a direct correlation

The problem is that without those elements, even a science based culture is doomed to fail. Without awareness of the metaphysical aspect of our being, man finds nothing worth striving for other than things, toys, pleasure, etc.

Anyone who has half a brain sees the destruction of mainstream religion, both physically and spiritually. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water though. Religion is a powerful tool for controlling the masses, personal spirituality however, recognizing natural law through our own metaphysical existence is key to a spiritually mature human race, and to a fulfilling life.
