Angelina Jolie: I never thought I’d have children, I never thought I’d be in love, I never thought I’d meet the right person

Despite the fame, fortune, glitz and glamour, Angelina Jolie’s happily ever after has come as a surprise to the Hollywood-born star.

Jolie has said she never imagined her life to turn out the way that it has.

“I never thought I’d have children, I never thought I’d be in love, I never thought I’d meet the right person,” Jolie has told Ellemagazine.

“Having come from a broken home you kind of accept that certain things feel like a fairytale, and you just don’t look for them.”

The 38-year-old Mr and Mrs Smith star appears on the June cover of Ellemagazine. Working with Saint Laurent creative director Hedi Slimane, Jolie opens up about life, love and her brood of kids.

While Jolie appears to be living out her own fairy tale, it wasn’t all smooth sailing.

During her 20s Jolie developed a wild child reputation but that point in her life was often “misinterpreted” as rebellious, she told Elle.

“And in fact it wasn’t a need to be destructive or rebellious —i t’s that need to find a full voice, to push open the walls around you. You want to be free. And as you start to feel that you are being corralled into a certain life, you kind of push against it,” said Jolie.

Pushing against the norms, Jolie married her first husband Johnny Lee Miller in 1996, wearing a white T-shirt with his name written in blood on her back.

In 2000, the actress was spotted kissing her brother, James Haven, on the Oscars red carpet, she was also known to carry around a vial of husband No..2 Billy Bob Thornton’s blood.

“It may come out very strange, it may be interpreted wrong, but you’re trying to find out who you are,” she said.
