Exactly! My Book Mark add-on quit working. I spent half of Saturday patching things up.
I was of the information from Mozillas site, that you had to "remove" version 29 first, before going back to an earlier version. Is that not true?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56724424

You don't have to do an un-install to change it back. Just choose 27 or 28 it takes just a minute to fix.

Why is anyone still using Firefox after the way their CEO was fired? O yea, I remember, that was two weeks ago, we have all moved on.

I am ashamed of you. I wont do my part to hit them back when they come for you.

Enjoy your little militant gay browser.

Firefox has been my favorite for years. I've tried others, but for me they don't compare.

Why do I have to install an add-on to get the add-on bar back? Sounds idiotic.

Uninstall 29.
Install 24.5 ESR: [link to ftp.mozilla.org]
Old UI and all security updates via a separate update channel.

Seams to be a disaster for the developers: [link to input.mozilla.org (secure)]

And if you like to comment there, too: [link to input.mozilla.org (secure)]

.
 Quoting: Hydra

Yep, that is what I run, but -
[link to www.mozilla.org]
support for 24.x ESR will cease in October 2014.
You'll then have to take 31.x ESR or 33.x standard, both of which will have some evolution of the current UI unless the users complain loudly enough to have them re-enable the settings they are removing.

Better to complain now so that by October and the next ESR release they've produced something useable.
I wasn't happy they removed the old download app from ver.19 (separate undocked mini-window) but it could be restored in about:config until they removed the coding for it completely.
I could even live with that deletion and I got comfortable with version 28 and now they've started their idiotic removing of features again.

I may have to check out Opera again as Firefox is making a good attempt at destroying FF.
Maybe go back to LINX...

Have fun.

I use FB Purity and Facebook disconnect too. The latter of which blocks Facebook from following you around the web. There is also a custom filter you can add to block the widgets on websites.

I don't like Chrome but this pretty much forced me to change from Firefox to Chrome.I would rather not use the addon to change it back because it doesn't fully change back anyway.

I think Firefox is gonna lose users over this change.Hell it already lost at least one.

I didn't choose the add-on option because future updates (if allowed) would most likley disable the add-on making it a temporary fix.

Thanks for the add-on as another option.

I just wish they would quit fixing what isn't broken. I've had updates in the past that made my add-ons stop working.

 Quoting: Cassie :-)

I appreciate you bringing up the options but the update probably did fix something which was broken. Yes the update did include changes which some may not like, including myself, however updates usually fix vulnerabilities or exploits within the script and coding. About a month or two ago there was a vulnerability that affected most major websites, like gmail, fb,twitter, yahoo etc. everyone was asked to change their password just incase. Hackers use these vulnerabilities (especially in java script) to spread viruses, updates patch them up. You can usually look and see on the official website what an update will contain. Just saying, it could be good actually, the add on suggested would be a safe alternative instead of switching back to a previous version which may or may not have the vulnerability patched. Thank you for bringing this up though.
