Academic consensus is the new priesthood and the guardians of the sacred cow of Evolution. "Secular" society will not question them. If "scientific consensus" is wrong, (not to mention propped up by manipulative tactics), then the whole card castle comes down. The consensus lie must be protected at all costs. It is culturally sacred.
