Low-level radiation from Japan's Fukushima nuclear accident has been detected in multiple samples of ocean water off the Pacific Coast of the U.S. and Canada, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is reporting.

The sample nearest to shore was taken about 100 miles off the coast of Eureka, in Northern California.

The levels are far below those that might pose a risk to human health or marine life, said Ken Buesseler, a WHOI marine chemist who is leading the monitoring effort.

"The levels are only detectable by sophisticated equipment able to discern minute quantities of radioactivity," Buesseler said.

So far, about 20 of those samples have been analyzed, and 10 have been positive for cesium-134, the Fukushima fingerprint. All were relatively close to the surface.

TEPCO fails to stop toxic water inflow into tunnels

Terrible news, Chugi. This is going to kill an awful lot of people, animals and vegetation, on land and in marine environments. Why isn't the world pooling its resources to fix this catastrophic situation? There simply must be a larger threat or it must be part of a depopulation agenda. It has to be one of the 2.

Now this. Might need its own thread although I can't do it, we are having T-Giving today at my house.

REACTOR 3 STEAM EVENT: On 11.24.2014 reactor 3 had a new steam event caught on the cams. In the past TEPCO always blames these steam events on rain getting into the building. This release is very localized and looks to me to be coming out of unit 3. The cranes are working overnight, which is pretty unusual. I wonder if the current work removing debris from 3 has uncovered corium that splattered inside the reactor building, vessel, or if it coming from underground. I hope like hell this isn't from the fuel pool. This needs to be watched closely. I looked at every video since and they are enormously pixelated. Rain on len overnight too makes it almost impossible to see what is going on.

Will share more info when I have it.

There sure is some type of smoke, steam or plastic blowing in the bottom right of the screen.
