If i dont comply there will be $300 fines for each offence, thats 1200 dollars! I got three days. Im infuriated over this horseshit as well. I just spent 7 years in a custody battle here in New Mexico, and going back to court over this shit is shall we say not very appealing? BUt thanks for the suggestion. Im a fighter for sure, but man its a loosing battle in this state. My wife is in tears. Any kenneling would cost us thousands.

Put the kennels in and use them for a few weeks until the fat old dyke county person moves on to bother someone else.

Build some chain link or cattle fence kennels quick, then fight it. Dogs are fine in large kennels for short time. Or bring them all in the house and deal with it.

Giving your dogs up over it shouldn't even be an option.

You might be grandfathered in. Check with a lawyer.

I'm really sorry you are having to go through this. You have my sympathy for whatever good that does.

My opinion is to comply for now and work out a plan at your leisure. You may want to consider a move to Montana where freedom is taken a little more seriously. New Mexico is a genuine armpit.

My dogs are inside everynight. But i have to be abel to keep them safe when im working and away.

I just got the call from the county, and demanded an interview with her supervisor.

SHe said it was above her pay grade to make a decision she is going to enforce the law, and has no personal opinion on the matter. SHe tried to tell me that keeping them on a 70 foot cable run was cruel and the dog was much better off inside a kennel. I live out in the forest so my dogs can be free. And now they are telling me to cage them up?

If it were me, I'd comply just long enough to buy myself time until I could move.

Im about compliance to a point. And i cant thank you enough for the advice you just gave me, i will call her first thing in the morning. My discussion five minutes ago with the code enforcer was fucking laughable! But she actually gave me to the end of next week instead of the 3 day notice of compliance on my fence. God Bless you!

These colors dont run. Whats funny is the officer for the county said a woman driving by on her bicycle noticed my male dog max at the end of his cable run, and she was intimidated? Seriously, thats exactly why anyone has a dog as protection of their property. I guess i should buy a pussy cat? WTF!

Thanks always Tiger 1! Ive put the calls in, my attorney will return my call in the morning. I left a message with the head official for the county and will be calling him again in the morning. But they have already informed me they dont interpret the law just enforce it. My dogs are healthy and happy, i told them to meet me here and meet my dogs and then tell me putting them in a confined kennel will be better for them. If you want my dog confined in a cage take them with ya!

Well the day of encroachment has arrived for my wife and i. Ive been working alot on a couple of projects in town, and over the memorial weekend animal protection came out and served me the counties orange notice telling me i have 3 days to comply. I havent even been on GLP much because of my current work load, but i figured id post this and see if anyone could help.

I have 4 bull terriers, i live up in the mountains on two and a half acres of private property in the forest 25 miles from town. My dogs are on 70ft. long cable runs allowing them a 30ft wide span and about 80' length they can travel back and forth. WHen i get home my dogs are inside the house with me 2 at a time. They get alternated every night. And are moved to a different location so as not to get bored being confined to the same location. I have plenty of room. My dogs are friendly and ive been raising pits for more than thirty years now. Ive lived at this location for 7 years with my dogs on these trolly systems. Hardware gets replaced every six months to insure no escape.

Animal control is demanding that i remove the trolleys and have the dogs confined in a kennel, with a top on it! Because even the puppy at 7 months will clear a six ft fence. I love my dogs and so do all the nieces and nephews, they actually claim each of the dogs as their own...lol

I have three days to comply or i will have to surrender my family members. My dogs are like my family and out here where it would be at least a half hour before law enforcement could get here, the dogs have been great protectors and warning systems as well.

This is what i call over reaching government, i live on private property, WTF? I guess i need to downsize to min pins? I called my neighbor, hes a retired federal agent. He watches and feeds my dogs for me when im out on my work trips. He told me its getting crazy, that they are now telling everyone how many chickens and goats and horses your allowed to have.

Ive about had all i can take!!!! Please respond with intelligent responses. I can not imagine confining my dogs in separate kennels so they can walk in their piss and shit all day, this is a fucking outrage. My oldest is six years old, and im guessing im just gonna have to surrender them. Three days, with me working isnt near enough time to change what ive been doing for a decade.

DO NOT surrender them. Seriously. They'd rather be in a kennel than taken by some fucking assholes that will then put them down. They'll wonder where you are and be terrified and heart broken. Take a couple days off, put up the kennels then take this stupid shit to court but NEVER surrender your dogs. They're your children.

don't surrender your dogs. you will prevail.....bc you are doing the right thing, you are taking care of G-d's creations and man-made bullshit will not prevail of G-dly justice. don't give up your dogs, fight and YOU WILL MOST DEFINITELY PREVAIL.

you are fighting not just for you, but all people who have pets, so this is a very serious matter.

if you need a legal defense fund set up, please do so....as i think there would be lots of people who would donate......believe it or not even liberal animal rights people would donate (i'm assuming you are conservative).....and it might raise awareness of issues like this and how dangerous they are.

if you are taking good care of your dogs and it sounds like you are, then you are doing the right thing and taking care of animals is certainly a mitzvah in G-d's eyes and so, you shall prevail.

Well, why do the kennels have to be small?
Why not build long dog runs. When you are there,
you could still put them on the cables.

But, I still feel like 3 days is too short of notice to
build much of anything. At the least, they should give
you 30 days.
