There was a suggestion to turn the Mound Rd. jail facility into the new Wayne County Jail, but they went forward with building the new jail new jail downtown, since Ficano's buddies were knee deep into that fiasco. That new jail is now scuttled, and has now cost about $200 million...

Is it racist to cheer for China when they level Detroit?

I mean, I know there are hate laws and I don't want to be called an anti-semite (like many conspiracy site broadcasters) and being told I'm anti-Israel (denying the holocaust the way it was told, etc.), but in this instance, China has no long standing history with anyone in this country outside our government.

And as far as the Chinese people go, I LOVE the Chinese!

I love their food (those buffets are killer (pun intended)), I love the 95% of the products I own around my home, made by their cute little hands, heck, I even love the cute little feet of the massage girl the next town over from me.

Go China!

they want to completely empty detroit! 100% they are going to make it pure hell to live there... orders will go out to pull people over and arrest them 10 times a day until they leave.

then detroit gets bulldozed...

You dont get what is happening do you?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 58606051

Well, besides smart assed comments, if you get what is happening by all means PLEASE do tell.

Otherwise, we'll just assume that not paying any governmental fee, no matter what the fee is, and then complaining about the lack of evidence will result in incarceration seems plausible at this point in the NWO agenda.
 Quoting: Éireann

You have never been to detroit have you.... I was born there... if it got hit tomorrow with a 20 kiloton nuke it would be a blessing...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 58606051

Ok, so it's in some major disrepair, but there are people there who would need to be relocated. Either way, Detroit USA was the seat of the industrial revolution. The people there machined the tools that built the USA and made her into the global superpower she is today (ok...given she isn't as super), but the history remains. There needs to be another solution to this problem besides "hiding" it and hoping that whatever caused her downfall won't happen elsewhere.
 Quoting: Éireann

Detroit already looks like a nuke went off in some places. Alot of places, actually. But there are also alot of good people here, fighting a losing battle, and we know it. It's hard to leave a city you love, myself included. But Ilitch and other businesses, sports stadiums, are YEARS behind on payments, owing 10's if not hundreds of thousands of back taxes and back bills. They aren't messing with those guys though...this is a test I think. See how apeshit people will go when they get squeezed.

Our economy collapsed here years before everyone else did. Many reasons, but primarily outsourcing the auto industry and then Detroit had a gangster for a Mayor who I think is now in prison. Kwame Kilpatrick. And before that even Coleman Young. Terrible management. Raided the pensions, that's why the city filed for bankrupcy, which is still being debated in the courts.

Shutting off water for a 60 day delinqency is extreme. I want to know whats up with this detention experiment more than anything.

What happens in Detroit will happen everywhere else next. That's why we need eyes on this.

well when you dont pay your water bill or taxes for 10 years and your water gets shut off. . its your problem...

just saying...

besides obama just committed billions to gutting detroit and ridding of all the trash...

Sounds good to me!

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 58606051

No I get that, although only a 60 day late bill seems extreme, considering the sh*t economic conditions here. But mass incarcerations for protesting?? That's why I posted. Maybe this is being overplayed on both sides. I can't find any more info on this, but I have seen one random checkpoint on I-75 at 696 a few months ago where they were randomly searching cars, checking papers. State police. They waved me through, probably because I had a big dog in the car...

Sounds super fishy, idk.

About 22% of all 380,000+ properties within the City of Detroit are defined as blighted. $850 million is estimated (probably on the low side-this is government we are talking about) to tear down or remedy the blight. Then there will just be another 85,000 vacant lots in the city, never mind the ongoing necessary upkeep of those vacant lots. Just keep throwing more money at it.

But why are they protesting?
How many shut off notices does it take to be considered a warning?
Is the population of Detroit so used to getting what they want for free that when the free stuff stops, they take to the streets?
I don't normally land on the side of the STATE but, in this case, I don't see a problem sweeping the streets of garbage and late water bills that have not been paid.
Sad to think this is a city in the USA.

Re: Detroit water doom: Mass incarcerations for protesters following shutoffs!
It makes me sad to see so many Detroit haters.

Although this is off-topic if you ever have been here than you know. Detroit is f*cking awesome. Belle Isle. Eastern Market. Woodward cruising. Cars. Mexican town, better margaritas then even in Mexico. Hamtramck and polish food. Harpos (now this is old but damn that place used to rock!) and the clubs downtown are as good as NYC or anywhere. Boxing, Joe Louis. Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, Pistons. Real people, mostly, The further out you move the faker people get. But the city has alot of hope. There is extraordinary art and architecture, if you know where to look. Its a real melting pot and the weird thing is there is almost no racial shit that goes on between these communities. It's hard to believe that but besides the gang-bangers people for the most part pull together, and get along. Every city has places you avoid, Detroit has more than most, sure. I know I am being nostalgic here. My point is, or rather the point of this thread, Agenda 21 is coming and we will be the first to go. I hoped it wouldn't happen this soon but...the politicians and poor management is what ruined Detroit, not the people.

From this article, if it's TRUE, then it has started.

Please don't hate on Detroit.

Protesters noted that the State’s Child Protective Services removes children from families where the water and other utilities are off. They said that numerous large entities including the VA hospital, the Palmer Park golf course, Ford Field, and others have not paid their water bills but do not face shut-offs.

“Illitch owes $80,000, Ford Field owes $55,000, and the golf course and hospital each owe at least $200,000. If they paid THEIR bills there would be no need to shut off poor folks,” Cabbell said.

The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department covers most of the entire system of Southeast Michigan, not just the city of Detroit. The suburban communities purchase the water from the city.

The department has been woefully inept at spending money on infrastructure improvements. Most of the water and sewer lines are 80+ years old, if not much older than that.

Where has all the money gone? Who knows, just keep on paying.

My utilities are ruthless. you have a strict 10 day grace period and then it's shut off time.. cry, cry and beg they won't turn it back on until it's PAID plus reconnection charges where they fleece you.
If they should make exceptions for Detroiters to keep free utilities why not anyone else? Portland, Oregon is having a very tough time so is everywhere else in the USA....Free untilities for us all? That would be great as I'm now unemployed and summer in Florida is like winter in Detroit.... Who will pay my 500 dollar electic bill?

we are only as strong as our weakest link

it is shameful in the greatest nation ever that we have residents without power or water which are two of todays society's most important resources

in 2014 theres no reason our country, as resource wealthy as we are, to have people going without water or power, this is treason

it truly is. its destroying our nation and prevents true progress and evolution

there MUST be a change to this system

one of the first changes needs to be to remove the ability for foreign corporations to control companies involved in our infrastructure

It is my understanding that all city contracts are on hold til this bankruptcy thing gets sorted out. But it is hard to figure out what goes on, when local news here does such a crappy job reporting.

The lead story a few nights ago was 10 minutes of a 30 min broadcast about some sh*t bar that got closed down after some drunk guys were fighting.

There is no depth whatsoever in reporting anything. All by design I'm sure. But look at this story. The people that know what's up and are protesting are getting arrested and then multiple charges being added probably to discourage speaking out. While the people with money are getting a pass. And why are they being taken to a facility that is supposed to be closed according to MDOC?? That's what I want to know!
