It is hard to believe, and I cannot imagine it happening to me.
 Quoting: Mountain Woman

It's hard to believe

“There was a contractor on the block shutting off the whole block,” Hicks said. “They were no-knock, no-notice shut-offs of homes including those where pregnant women and children live. After they shut mine off, I went two houses over to ask the man if he could wait until the family could gather some water together for their immediate needs. They were coming early in the morning, between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. and people had no time to brush their teeth or wash up. He told me he doesn’t have to give notice to the homes, and that he was just doing his job.”

Hicks said she told him that was the same explanation given by Nazis at the concentration camps, and by Detroit police when they are busting people’s heads.

Hicks said he wore some sort of water department decal without the name of Detroit, over his company badge. She said people she knows living in the Warrendale neighborhood had earlier complained about the shut-off workers not being official City of Detroit employees.

- See more at: [link to voiceofdetroit.net]

He said he was just doing his job ?

Maybe all you Government employees should stop doing your jobs and start thinking instead ?

" then they came for me

Re: Detroit water doom: Mass incarcerations for protesters following shutoffs!
There has been too much bullshit spewed here for me to reply to everything.

#1 RadChick, congratulations to you if you really were paying that much over your monthly mortgage to try and pay it off in 10 years vs. 30 years. But you rolled the dice and came up craps. That is gambling. Is it the fault of Detroit or the bank that you did that instead of putting the extra money each month into a savings account in case you needed a rainy day fund? You signed your contract that stated you would pay X dollars each month for the next 30 years, regardless of any extra money you paid each month. Sorry, but when you could not pay that X dollar amount because of whatever reason, it was not the bank's fault.

#2 For the last 44 years I have been on this planet, I have watched the news (even when I was a child and my parents or grandparents had it on). And every year or so, I saw the fucking auto unions demanding more and more from the companies their employees worked for. Even though those "middle class workers" made much more than my parents did. And I also noticed in related news all of the turds of society that had moved there to leach off of the largess. I mean, it does not take rocket science to see you idiots fell for the progressive playbook before the word progressive had been rediscovered from history.

#3 It was obvious to even the casual (but honest) observer that Detroit was going to fall under the progressive schemes that were played. And it was obvious for well over a decade. Most of the smart folks got out as soon as the writing was on the wall. But, unfortunately, some of the turds realized it as well. I know, because I started noticing through conversations with new arrivals here in Georgia that more and more turds were moving here. I guess some of them saw that the free ride was coming to an end.

#4 It doesn't matter WHERE you live. In the great words of Brief, "Pay yo bills, pay yo bills, pay yo GD bills!" I have to pay my GD bills. And I know it. I agreed to such when I signed up for those services. And 60 days must be normal for much of the U.S., as mine will be cut off in the same amount of time if I don't pay mine.

#5 ThevoiceofDetroit sounds like some stooge wannabe union of citizens. As such, I will not blindly believe any sewage being reported from them. Sorry. Call me a racist or whatever worn out descriptor you feel like using. I just know from following things for most of my life how the real world works. And I have a pretty good B.S. radar.

#6 You talk of the multiculti paradise working together in Detroit. All I can find in the news is case after case of white people getting beat down when they accidentally hit a black kid that was standing in the street. And black thugs getting shot when they kick in the door of a black person inside their own home. And of women getting raped. And of murder after murder. And an insane amount of these crimes are perpetrated by the black thugs.

So, RadChick, kiss my motherfucking ass. Y'all were idiots for the progressives for 60 years up there. And because of that, y'all allowed all of the blue golems to finish wrecking a once shining beacon of the U.S.

And the sad thing is that all of these progressive cities (you know, the modern ones with multicultural ideals and all) like Detroit, Chicago, NYC, LA, San Fransicko, et all will drag the whole nation down. But I know how to survive. I and my like minded family, friends, and acquaintances will make do and keep on living and thriving. How about you and your libtard buddies? I wouldn't place any money on you...

Detroit has become a Rats Nest. Alot of Criminals filter over the border and cause problems in our Canadian Cities.

Nobody will go to Detroit to shop anymore and risk getting mugged or beaten or raped or murdered.

They should slam the boarder closed and only allow in the Trucks and Truckers whom are moving the Goods back and forth cause the rest of what comes over from the States is just Vile Dirty Rats looking to take and steal what they can.

Fuck Detroit. Its a cess pool now.

 Quoting: markyb 47402853

Thanks for the link. Looks like they are also going to it up surrounding counties...good luck.

Are you still local?
Then you know how the suburbs are going down the sh*tter too.

Although if you read Crain's or other business mags they seem oblivious.

According to Crain’s Detroit Business, interest expenses and investment losses have put the city’s water and sewer funds in the red. The concern is that Detroit’s fiscal free-fall will make it unattractive to creditors and affect its ability to borrow money.

Interest expenses, investment losses = poor management. Going unchecked for years, and here we are.

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said Detroit’s proposal to turn its water department into a regional authority would likely triple water rates.

TRIPLE??

“I tell my team no deal is better than a bad deal – and right now it’s a bad deal, so we’re probably going to walk,” he said during a speech at “Governing” magazine’s Outlook in the States & Localities conference.

**********

I would like to know who these contrators were. Typically contracters cost more than city workers. So why weren't water dept officials handling this? Was it cheaper to hire contractors than pay employees of their own water department? Instead they send in guys with sticker badges?

There has been SO MUCH corruption in city departments over the years, and it's not just in Detroit. 2 years ago another radio talk show host told me Illinois pension funds are empty, too. His aunt was a state rep. Everyone just kicks the can down the road. But in Detroit, they have hit the dead end. After it happens here, it is going to happen everywhere else. How this is handled in Detroit will be followed similarily.

And we still have this jail/facility sketchiness which hasn't been explained.

Lots of questions here.

TO RECAP:

So far we have -

1) Minimal to no warning water is being shut off for as little as 60 day delinquency

2) Proof of shutoff not provided, in the case mentioned arrested for asking questions

3) Protesters are now prisoners

4) Prisoners are being held at an old jail that is supposed to be CLOSED per MDOT

5) Multiple BS charges added at time of arraignment

6) CPS sweeps in next to take children from "homes w/o water"

Please don't make this a black thing.

Please don't make this a poor thing.

SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG HERE!

Where do you propose they go? They had better not come to the west side. Things are quite nice over here. We don't need any of that crap! Muskegon is the last bucket to clean up, but they are working on it. Right now, nothing can be bought or sold within Muskegon Heights, the ghetto of that town. Kent and Ottawa counties' economic outlook is very good. Things are humming along. Most take pride in there neighborhood and with a Christian work ethic and the scenic shoreline and all that goes with that, it is a very desirable place to live and raise a family.

So how long should you get water you won't pay for? 60 days? 90 days? Why should you have to pay for water at all since you are special? Why can't you assault or threaten a utility worker for doing his job?

I agree with you. I didnt know we were behind, my husband pays the bills cause I am not able to. I just believe still that most people want to pay thier bills. I hope in our case they give us a chance to work out payment plans or something! Not every person behind is a bad person.

No I get that, although only a 60 day late bill seems extreme, considering the sh*t economic conditions here. But mass incarcerations for protesting?? That's why I posted. Maybe this is being overplayed on both sides. I can't find any more info on this, but I have seen one random checkpoint on I-75 at 696 a few months ago where they were randomly searching cars, checking papers. State police. They waved me through, probably because I had a big dog in the car...

Sounds super fishy, idk.

Re: Detroit water doom: Mass incarcerations for protesters following shutoffs!

+1 very hard concept for many 'pay your bill'
people who are raised to expect the goberment to pay their bills…don't understand

Water companies usually have payment plans for hardships…like yours…by the way I hope things are better now..
but when clients continually abuse this after 90 days get turned off

I live in Central Texas summer temps 105 and up…drought…my bill will hit 80 -140 monthly…I raise horses and work extra jobs just to pay that bill

but if you need help or know someone who does go to the link below

Is it racist to cheer for China when they level Detroit?

I mean, I know there are hate laws and I don't want to be called an anti-semite (like many conspiracy site broadcasters) and being told I'm anti-Israel (denying the holocaust the way it was told, etc.), but in this instance, China has no long standing history with anyone in this country outside our government.

And as far as the Chinese people go, I LOVE the Chinese!

I love their food (those buffets are killer (pun intended)), I love the 95% of the products I own around my home, made by their cute little hands, heck, I even love the cute little feet of the massage girl the next town over from me.

Go China!
