We are going to look at WOW cable services because I don't think they have data limits. There are too many people in our house using the internet to have a limit on our usage.. not to mention when family comes to visit and the teenage kid's friends. Geez! |

I told them I had never agreed to any such service cap, and if they dared to shut my service off I would cancel them altogether. I haven't changed my habits, and they haven't bothered me since. |

Phennommennonn Forum Administrator 06/02/2014 10:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We just found out that Comcast has capped our monthly data usage of home cable internet to 300GB. We almost went over. We had no idea about ANY of this until we got a strange phone call from them stating we were approaching our data limit, which we had no idea even existed! When we called them back, they stated we had a limit of 300GB and it would be $10 for every 50GB we went over and above that, monthly. We're sitting here saying "What the heck?". We have never heard of a monthly data limit of home internet usage! This is insane! We have 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a 2 year old who likes to play on our phones & other wireless devices. Seriously? We are looking elsewhere for internet now. We didn't go over our limit but we got very close. This policy is now effective in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee and South Carolina. Here's the link... [link to customer.comcast.com (secure)] To check your data usage visit: [link to xfinity.com] dude comCRAP started that shit back in 2010 with me 250 gig & didnt say a fucking word - no notification whatsoever - i found out by loggn into my acct & just goin thrru acct tabs my "usage" was a pube under the 250 gig!! had i gone over the additionals wouldve been alacarte i told them to fuck off & went FIOS - no caps political correctness is a doctrine.... fostered by a delusional, illogical minority...... and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media; which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end. |

The ppl woukd.ha e yheir service reconnected and all get credits. But that would require someone to possibly miss americas got no talent or loud housewives from some fake city for possibly one night. This this will not take place. Americans have been labotamized by television. End og story. Those with a brain got rid of comcast years ago but thats a seperate issue. |

So when you watch a video on youtube, they can stream you an HD ad that uses 100 MB and then let you watch a music video that take 10 MB. ISP's are now allowed to prioritize streams for companies that pay a premium (ie. Netflix). So they are making money twice for the same bandwidth - from the advertiser and from the customer paying in bandwidth usage. Crazy is gettin' batshit crazy |

Here's a thread about Comcast throttling Youtube: [link to forums.comcast.com] |

I'm using a MiFi now. In the past, I had satellite...the caps were similar, but if I went over, they'd throttle me down to modem speeds. They have us rural folks by the sack & they milk it for all it's worth. |

We could probably stop this with regulation, but that would be un-American. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 58725353 United States 06/02/2014 12:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Google Fiber cant come fast enough. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 57981403 They need to stop charging Data on the Phones also, its just a rip off. Don't get me wrong, I would pay for Google fiber. But it's no savior. The idea of Google controlling the internet in America even more than they do now scares me. |

They tell me it's 10 mgbs, does that sound right? Also, can I even use Roku with that small amount? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 58672473 I just checked and it says 10 Mbps download speed. It that enough for roku? Okay, I hate the cable companies too! I want to ditch everything but the internet, which is why I am asking the above questions. I sincerely looked to find the answer and couldn't and would love for someone to tell me if this is doable. I am out in the sticks too and have only cable or Direct tv to choose from. |
