[ link to www.livescience.com] It has been colder before too. Local temperatures observed within a very short span of time are not "unprecedented". The Earth has been around for a very long time. Just because this or that year in a decade or a century is warmer or colder does not make it "unprecedented". The medieval warm period was warmer than it is today.
