Pensioners spend in retail.
Mortgage backed securities ride on the markets.
People become homeless.
Banks gamble there.
No money for loans.

While I accept the current US markets and euro markets have as much to do with free market economics as the old USSR command economics it is also unfortunately true that the qualtities of money involved and institutions have entwined themselves in the USAs economy to the extent than they can drag the whole edifice down if they wish or are not given more government funds.

International trade and commodity markets are weak and China is heading towards recession. The Eurozone and the USA are economic basket cases.

Surely you realize that cannot last forever. It isn't complicated. It just isn't.

The same rules of economics have always applied and they still do. Sure the Fed can manipulate, but it can't perpetuate a false economy forever.

We all know what happens next.
