True Christians owe their allegence first and foremost to God in heaven. We are in this world, but we are not of this world. Instead, we are just pilgrims passing through on our way back home.
We know this world hates us, and we do not expect our Messiah to save us from the day-to-day evils of this world. As He was persecuted so have we been persecuted. He taught us peace instead of war.
However, I don't oppose resistance to tyranny. If anyone, even an evil government, breaks the laws of the land and attacks you, I believe you have a right to self-defence.
And you don't need to allow yourselves be enslaved if you can successfully resist the tyranny. Or if not, then you can often flee it.
But this is really a qustion of world-views and time-lines. I think we are now living in the end times, and that changes everything. For the bible details how the end times will play out. And if we are now in the end times, then no man will be able to stop it. That is the reason for the comment above. So, my opinion if asked 230 years ago would likely be different than if asked today because of the times we live in today.
So knowing that no man will be able to stop this end times tyranny, my recommendation is to pray for God's protection, and to flee when the sword is hovering over your neck.
