Iwork fer feema, i can confirm there are contingency plans for a 3 tiered gas rationing implementation, first a 70's style "odd or even license plates" during peak summer demand, then a voucher system followed by straight up nationalization of ALL retail distribution with strictly enforced limits.

Theyre really wirried about black marketers and are crafting straight up Draconian response policues sans any due process ysing an old Shrub exec order.

Why would gas rationing be needed? It seems more likely that a simple rise in price to $4/gallon would cause personal rationing in and of itself.

I've seen where a loss of Iraqi oil could be a catalyst for the need to ration, but where was their oil production 10 years ago? We didn't seem to miss it then.

The logistics of gas rationing would make it impossible to implement nationwide. Lots of dire stuff that would be impossible to pull off nationwide actually, the country is too big, with too many people and too much money flowing every which way.

Rather simplistic. We export many things, and could export far more had we the will.

The dollar tanking might be alright if it forces us to start developing in house once again. Then we can export whatever surplus we have.

I dont think it will be rationed.As you say the cost will prohibit most from buying all but what is essential.
I do think we will begin to see more gas thefts and maybe even hold ups at stations just to fill vehicles.
I dont think a lot of people realize the depth of whats on the way.Its not going to be good.

Any story in a newspaper that also features stories relating to the bible I find highly suspect to it's truth. It's a good B.S. indicator.

(Of note, since 2008, 7 refineries are no longer in operation)
