Trying to figure out if Marlboro decided to do a dick move in oneupsmanship, or Camel was trying to mock Marlboro.

And why no Pall Mall 101s?

Marlboro 100's.

Camel 99's came out in 1999.

That's why they are 99's.

Weird, so it took them until 1999 to come out with a longer cigarette?

I can't tell if OP is genuinely curious.

The 100 or 99 is the length of the cigarette.

100 millimeters or 99 millimeters. It's just marketing.

In reality, one wants to get the shorts like 72's. The 72's use high quality tobacco leaf cut into strips without the extra filler used in medium and longer cigarettes. This includes filler that is made from paper soaked in tobacco juice, tobacco scrapings that have fallen on the floor and covered in dust, or reused tobacco waste like stems and more.

If you want that smooth and rich flavor of genuine tobacco products, stick with the shorter length cigarettes. They are a premium purchase with premium flavor and enjoyment.

I am genuinely curious. I know that's the length, I'm was curious about why Camel made it 99 instead of 100, or vice versa. One would think you couldn't trademark the length in a name, but maybe that's why.

I feel like I'm getting gypped with the shorts though. I need to quit anyway.

The shorts really have the best flavor and smooth aroma that smokers enjoy. They are 100% tobacco, no bull filler in the longer cigarettes.

Maybe vapor technology works for you? Like those new Blu e-cigarettes.
