Hijinnx User ID: 51073147 07/01/2014 07:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to www.worldhealth.net] Bromelain (Pineapple enzyme) ..a natural anticoagulant that works by breaking down the blood-clotting protein fibrin. This may help to explain why results of at least two clinical trials suggest that the enzyme can help to improve the symptoms of angina and thrombophlebitis. As well as thinning the blood, bromelain also thins mucus, and thus maybe of benefit to asthmatics and people suffering from chronic bronchitis. There is also evidence that bromelain can trigger beneficial changes in white blood cells, and thus may improve immune function. |

If you can't get fresh pineapple or don't like it, a good brand of bromelain is Now Foods, it's very strong and a good value, I looked at all of them: [link to www.swansonvitamins.com] |

It would probably work on a cat too if you could get them to eat it. Don't know, I really, really dislike those foul smelling creatures who act as if... well, I'll stop there, don't intend to upset the cat lovers by going on and on about what disgusting rats they are. |

In another instance, researchers found that the raw extracts from pineapple had the ability to decrease mucus five times faster than over-the-counter cough syrup and help patients recover 4.8 times faster. Overall, the fruit was found to offer relief across the board when it came to coughing symptoms, hacking in particular... Don't know if it's helping any but I eat it anyway because I like it. It's also a fruit that's easy to tell when ripe. So I can usually buy a couple at a time, when they are totally green, and let them sit on the counter for a week or so until ready. |

But she'd also put a small scoop of home-made ice cream or sherbet in it and it made it easier to drink. Worked every time. She'd also put a raw onion in my room & told me that it "absorbed" the infection. There was also a soup she made called "cowboy soup" that "cured everything!" she said. And it did seem to most of the time. Wish someone would have written down recipe but we didn't. I just remember it having meat, brown rice, carrots, celery, garlic, onions, fresh parsley leaves (lots) and some kind of root vegie. Have tried to duplicate but not the same. It still seems to help but not like her soup did. Must have been other ingredients she hid in it that I'm not remembering. Gotta love grandmas. |
