One scenario I find intriguing is that the 'end time prophesies' are the wish and outcome of one side in a two or more sided strategic game between entities. Generally I'd wager any side with firm investment in 'prophesies' are not on the side of free will.

So an inhibition on triggering 'the end times' MAY be big daddy saying: no pe, this time you're not playing that silly game again, this time you work it through. Kiss and make up time!

Being able to inhibit expression on the astral level sounds like significant power involved, delaying growth and maturity for a long time is bound to get you noticed and unpopular by serious forces.
