Anyone remember the days when a thread like this would be pages long, filled with great commentary, within a couple of hours?

I don't know if it's doom overload or if the knowledgeable posters just realize that posting about this is pointless, we're just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic (metaphorically speaking).
