Quoting: Shadow Beam the yellowstone road melts are not normal geothermal activity but the road melting isnt the important part!!! the PRESCENCE OF OIL, DUE TO HOT SPOT ACTIVITY IS!!! read what is says......not the sensationalist headline 'hot spot causes oil to bubble to the surface' [link to m.nbcmontana.com] its not going to be sudden as you all think! USGS know how it will erupt.....and they didnt put this in the 2012 movie haha they know it will not start with a large earthquake. this is because a Rhylolitic eruption will happen first. the following hydrothermal eruption, will cause earthquakes and geological shifts the magma flow is comeing VERY SOON when you see flowing magma topside, but USGS say 'dont worrie, its a minour eruption'.....RUN the big bang will follow |

I don't see any oil on the non-paved areas on either side of the road. I have seen asphalt roads that were driven on while still too hot, and that's pretty much what they look like. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34851870 I have seen asphalt roads that were driven on while still too hot, and that's pretty much what they look like. ^^^^ What he said Asphalt is made of rock aggregate combined with a petroleum (oil) based binder. When asphalt gets hot, and cars drive on it, that petroleum binder can work its way to the surface of the road, as seen on the roads in Yellowstone. |
