I need to complete the application first and as I spent whole my vaccation with doing literally nothing I need to leave my office sooner than usually and visit local shooting range to get the form. They help with firearm licensing. Right. So I asked a guy I know about the Glock 19. He recommends the Glock 23, which is .40 caliber, instead of the 19. If you're concealed carrying, he says consider a smaller Glock, like the 43, because the weight of the 19 and 23 can become an issue unless you're carrying in a shoulder holster. The only thing I have against a single stack 9mm is if I'm going to limit myself to only 7 rounds, I'd just go back to carrying a 1911 or smaller single stack .45 caliber pistol. Still lures me because of its compact size. For personal defense I really don't know as there is too many options. My uncle recomended me just classic Czech firearms from CZ - [link to cs.wikipedia.org (secure)] Probably even them would be good enough as there aren't prospects for big shootouts so far. But the reason is the spread. Handguns hit one tiny point and go through walls. Powerful shotguns also have the disadvantage of shooting through walls. But a simple shotgun firing, say, buckshot won't go through walls and spread the shot in such a way that chances of hitting your target in a closed space from a fast hipshot are radically increased. |
