World's 'biggest sinkhole' baffles scientists sparking rumour of crashed UFO site

The opening mysteriously appeared in Yamalm northern Siberia, a place already named by locals as 'the end of the world'

A mysterious gigantic sinkhole has appeared in Russia - and nobody knows where it came from or how deep it is.

It opened up in the peninsula of Yamal, a place which locals call the 'end of the world'.

At 80 metres wide, the sinkhole is believed to be the biggest ever spotted in the country and could be one of the deepest ever recorded in the world.

Speculation of what has caused the phenomenon include rumours of a crashed UFO, a meteorite hitting the earth, global warming or a sinkhole caused by collapsing rock.

This was brought up on another thread earlier, but I'm going to get in on it here, too.

This is in the same area as the siberia cauldrons that were featured on Ancient Aliens and have been documented as existing...

I wonder.

I mean, with the meteorite activity and all of the fireballs in the area the last couple of years...

Re: World's 'biggest sinkhole' baffles scientists sparking rumour of crashed UFO site
Here is a quote from another article about the sinkhole.

"The Yamal Peninsula in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is a strategic oil and gas bearing region of Russia.

It is Russia's main production area for gas and the Bovanenkovo field is of central importance to gas supplies from Siberia to the world."

[link to siberiantimes.com]

So there is alot of mining there. They take alot of oil and gas out of the ground which can leave big voids, which can cause sinkholes.
