Not really into the market but I'm wondering why the DOW is up over 100 points already today. In fact it seems all markets are rising. Can anyone more familiar with the markets explain why they are up when the world seems to be on fire and tensions so high?

The dow went down yesterday, but I think the info that is being peddled (downed accidently by pro Russia rebels) is making investors believe that this was a one time deal, and it most likely won't escalate.

The dow went down yesterday, but I think the info that is being peddled (downed accidently by pro Russia rebels) is making investors believe that this was a one time deal, and it most likely won't escalate. Quoting: Thistle True. They'll chalk it up to the plane being in airspace that it should haven't been and that it was mistaken and shot down accidentally. Few Americans on board, so most in the US probably aren't even reading the headlines about it anymore.
