Solomon's Temple rebuilt in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Massive construction finished, inauguration ceremony set for July 31.
Maybe you've come across this news in 2010:

One of the world's largest and most controversial Pentecostal churches has been given permission to build a $200m (£130m) replica of Solomon's Temple in Brazil's economic capital, São Paulo.

The 10,000 capacity "mega-church", which is the brainchild of Brazil's Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, will also house a replica of the Ark of the Covenant and be built according to "biblical orientations".
 Quoting:

[link to www.theguardian.com]

They brought stones from Israel for the construction.

Its been 4 years and the construction is finished. It was technically inaugurated today (19) but it was not open to the public, the official inauguration is July 31. Political figures will be at the inauguration event such as president Dilma and former president Lula.

Can't find a link in english for that right now.

I wonder if it is built to the biblical dimensions. If it was that monstrous back in the day, you can imagine the awe it inspired.

Cool...i happen to have been wondering if the Al Aqsa mosque, which was considered to be the Temple by the Crusaders and maybe the Mason AND the Knesset building could each be accepted as the End Times "Third Temple".

Indeed..

From its official website in english:

After this comment, he thought: “If I can’t bring everyone here, then I'll take pieces of this land to them.” From that day on, this idea began to take shape and, in July 2010, an impressive project—designed according to biblical references to the temple—was announced.

I suppose so. In the link above they say they tried to make the temple as similar as possible to the former temple (second temple).

The Hebrews, Egyptians, Babylonians and the residents of Mesopotamia used a measurement called a cubit. One royal Hebrew cubit is about equal to 20.76 inches which is about 52.7 cm.

Scholars of the cubit measurements of Solomon’s Temple found in the Bible know for the past few thousand years no one has been able to get all the cubits of the Bible to fit correctly.

This means a correct model of Solomon’s Temple has never existed even though all of the clues are recorded in the Bible.

According to the interpretation of a group of people, the temple being rebuilt outside of Israel would actually be the fulfillment of a prophecy. They use Mark 13:14 to corroborate that interpretation.

Mark 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

Many temple scholars think Solomon’s Temple was only 30 cubits high.

The 30 cubits or 52′ height was an inside measurement of the ceiling.

The Temple that King Solomon built was actually 120 cubits tall(II Chronicles 3:4).

Architects and builders might scoff that no one could build a 20 story tall building 3,000 years ago.

But the Bible states that it did occur and so do a few other ancient historians.

Giant Brazilian Temple Replica Panned as 'Mockery'

[less than 50%]

The Temple Institute in Jerusalem takes a different approach, calling it a "hubris-inspired act of self-aggrandizement… the equivalent of [yet another] destruction of the [Holy] Temple, even before it is [re-]built. This planned church is a mockery which stands in diametric opposition to everything that the Holy Temple of Jerusalem represents."

The Universal Church has already paid $8 million to import stones from Israel. The Guardian reports that the church will be modeled on King Solomon's Temple and will feature a replica Ark of the Covenant in the center of the sanctuary.

[...]

"Bishop Macedo's planned mega-church," Rabbi Richman continued, "is a usurpation and abuse of the sacred space that is embodied by the Biblical concept and vision of the Holy Temple, and a gross expropriation of Judaism's most sacred values.

P.S. That is a direct quote from King Solomon, who did build the original temple.

A song of ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.

The inauguration day of the temple is July 31. This day falls on Av 4 5774 on the Hebrew calendar. It falls exactly in the middle day of the 9 mourning days of the month of Av.

It was in the month of Av that many tragedies took place, among them:

7 Av - (586 BCE) - First Temple Invaded

After a month of fighting in Jerusalem, King Nebuchadnezzar's armies of Babylonia broke through, into the Holy Temple, where they feasted and vandalized until the afternoon of Av 9, which at that point they set the Temple on fire.

9 Av - (586 BCE and 70 CE) - Holy Temples Destroyed

The first and second Holy Temples which stood in Jerusalem were both destroyed, on Av 9. The First Temple by the Babylonians, and the Second Temple by the Romans. The Temples' destruction represented the beginning of Galut (exile).

10 Av (70 CE) - Holy Temple burns

The Romans set the Temple on fire on the afternoon of Av 9. This is why the mourning practices for Jews of the "Nine Days" are observed through the morning hours of Av 10.

This is a very interesting angle on the verse in Mark. Given the ongoing hostilities in Gaza, Egypt, and most of the surrounding Arab countries, the fact that Ramadan ends on the 28th, and the 9th of Av occurs on Aug 4-5... It would be an opportune time for those in Judea to flee to the wilderness. Surely the Arabs will be more apt to respond after Ramadan and if the desolation of Jerusalem and likely, parts of Israel, follows historical precedent, it will occur on the 9th of Av of some year...maybe this one. We shall see what happens.

Solomon is the reason you are all in this cluster fucked mess and you are building temples to commemorate that?

Idiots.

Right we are all supposed to be trying to avoid past mistakes then we can wrap this cycle up and move on the better things. So this isn't helping and the past is NOT going to be repeated. Period.

What about the Tower of Babel? That was well before the temple. According to the Book of Jasher, the circumference of the tower was a good 3 days walk.

Not sure I am the right person to answer that. I believe the consensus has been that if the third temple was going to be built it would be inside Israel. But maybe that is not mandatory and it could be built somewhere else.

I dunno really.. I hoped some glptards would come into the thread and clarify on this subject.

Its interesting though, as someone mentioned above, that the inauguration of this temple is in this month amidst all that has been going on around the world... we oughta keep an eye on it.
