niphtrique (OP) User ID: 59235866 Netherlands 07/29/2014 03:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | On 17 July 1996, which was exactly one year before the Boeing of the MH17 first flew, Trans World Airlines Flight 800, a Boeing 747-131, exploded and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean near East Moriches, New York. 230 people were killed in this accident. 777 days later, on 2 September 1998, Swissair Flight 111, a McDonnell Douglas MD-11, crashed into the Atlantic Ocean, southwest of Halifax International Airport at the entrance to St. Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia. 229 people were killed in this accident. Both planes took off from John F. Kennedy International Airport, both planes crashed into the Atlantic Ocean, while the number of people killed was nearly the same. The Swiss Air flight number 111 is remarkable in combination with the number of 777 days between the accidents, while the flight numbers 800 and 111 add up to 911.
