Jury Duty Summons same week as vacation

Call the court and give them any good excuse - they can usually postpone it for you. I had to do the same and they were very nice about it.

If you can get your boss to write a letter that says you really can't be excused from work during that time for whatever reason.. this will usually get you out of it.

Bad news.. you would have to take it with you on first day of selection.

Speaking from experience not from out my ass.

Send em a letter saying you're currently out of state for the next two years for work, it worked for someone I know

I just ignore them until they're sent certified mail or delivered by a process server. They can't prove that you received it.

You can call like the previous poster said.. but goes over much better when it is in writing in their hand.

If that doesn't work, take the route I did, I really did this, Tell them you don't want to be there and in protest you are going to find this person innocent no matter what the evidence shows. Prosecutor will say byebye now, guaranteed.

Illegals don't have to show up for their own court dates, so why should you show up?

I feel you're pain. I was married for 34 years and my wife died of cancer in 2010. One week after she died I got a jury duty summons. I called and they could care less. I had to go.

As far as it being a conspiracy, well I don't know. It sure struck me as suspicious because of the timing of it. They probably knew I frequented GLP and was a conspiracy theorist.

Just imagine if you were on trial for you're life and I was picked to be a juror in you're trial. I can tell you for a fact that mentally I was in no condition to judge anything.

My whole world had collasped and I did not care about anything at the time. It was unfair to me and more unfair to any potential person on trial I might have had to be a juror in their case.

Also say it is against your religion/belief to judge and if they continue say they are discriminating against your beliefs *whatever they are, do research*.

Just check the box that says you're a felon or that you are NOT a US citizen, and send it back.

Or write on it and ask if you can discuss "jury Nullification" with the other jurors...

I have served on several trials over the years and lost a months pay on one of them!! Fuck them!! I don't do jury duty anymore!! I just throw the fucking summons away!!

If you have plane tickets etc, just contact them and let them know that you have incurred costs. They will probably let you reschedule

i got permanently excused from jury duty because i have "anxiety problems", which is really lack of motivation to be around stupid fuckin people. if u have any medical record that would suggest that u cannot be there, send it to them.

Seriously, though, I had Jury Duty 3 years ago and the roll call was taken and 3 people hadn't shown. The secretary or whoever gave those names to a deputy.

I was very surprised, and very glad that I showed up.

My jury duty notices always get lost in the mail.

I filled mine out with a crayon.

I have never received another summons since.

REally call the court and talk to them. They will usually postpone it if you have a legit reason. Tell them you already have made the plans and bought the tickets or whatever you have done. You might have to do it later, but there is no good reason to have your vacation messed up.

Chances are you will be dismissed on the first day.

If not, you will be called for jury selection.. and when this happens the judge will ask you if you will be willing to "follow his/her instructions" --at this point you will raise your hand and say... "No I cannot follow your instructions, I will retain the right to judge both the law and the facts concerning this case."

Please refer to the FIJA website (Fully Informed Jury Association) and look up the facts behind "jury nullification."

When you state this before the judge you will have multiple supreme decisions on your side... know them and be able to quote them to the judge. The judge will shit their pants knowing that you now know about "jury nullification" and then dismiss you right then and there.

Works all the time, guaranteed.

I received a jury summons at my address the same week I was moving to a different place across town. I threw it out and haven't received another ever since. That was 5 years ago.
