The rebels haven't done a "wondrous" job of anything. You like all those photos by Jeroen Akkermans which are on flickr. Have you bothered to read the news stories he's posting from that area? The rebels didn't bring him in and he's documenting things because crash investigators were not allowed to the site by the local thugs.
