Kidney infection

Right I have a rather nasty painful kidney infection, took over a week to see the doc and within seconds I was back out the door with a prescription for Trimethoprin, a chemotherapeutic anti-biotic. It was a stand in doc for my usual and although he took a cursory glance at the front page of my records and vaguely listened to me saying these type of meds did not sit well with me, he offered no alternative. The last time I had an antibiotic I lost a lot of skin off my hands, my hair started to fall out and my stomach let go spectacularly. After just three pills.

I am too damn scared to take this one. Anyone offer any gentler non chemical poison remedy please. I am almost to sore to sit down this morning after two weeks I have started to take high dose vit D, garlic and cranberry juice
Thank you people x

It does really hurt, but am still to wary to take the medicine from a doc who doesn't know me, waste of time going really other than to have my diagnosis confirmed

Powerstrips are far infrared therapy patches that work by use of germanium in the outer layer. The ingredients on the inner layer are phytoplankton (Alpha 3 CMP, the only bioavailable phtyoplankton in existence), fermented Korean red ginseng, ionic silver, and a mix of herbs including capsaicin/ all ingredients are nano-sized, and the patch is super slim. There are no man-made materials in the patch whatsoever, including the adhesive and the patch material itself, which is made of plant material. This 100% natural patch is, among other things, a fantastic detoxifier, and I do believe that it will take care of your kidney problem better than anything on the market, natural, otc, or prescription. Powerstrips, by the way, have an FDA listing as both a class 1 medical device as well as OTC drug (the OTC drug listing is based on the fact that the patch contains capsaicin). it is the first and only product ever dual listed by the FDA. It is amazing.

I wouldn't mess around with a kidney infection OP.

What antibiotic did you take last time that caused the reaction ?

May be the doc did listen to you and that's why he didn't prescribe the standard amoxcicllin or augmentin.

If I were you I'd take the meds along with a good live yogurt or prebiotic to help with any poop issues.

Skin grows back, hair grows back. kidneys not so much.

hope you feel better soon.

I realise its foolish to mess about with something so serious, but about 14 years ago I had a recurring kidney infection for over 9 months, after repeated courses of nasty anti-biotics I developed Coeliac disease, and a variety of allergies for which I now have to carry two epipens at all times. According to the consultant the constant meds flipped my immune system to attack me. Hence my reluctance to go that route again. The last anti-biotics I took were Metronidazole. A nasty little bugger.
Amoxicillin and augmentin were exactly what caused the immune system trouble.
This latest one is Trimethaprim or prin, its a Chemotherapeutic drug. Sounds horrid to me. Hence am not keen.
Thank you for your advice I will think very hard xx

Re: Kidney infection
Cranberry juice or hibiscus tea on a regular basis! Hibiscus tea has been used by the Asians and the Hispanics for generations. The Mexicans call it Jamaica, served cold. You can buy the dried flowers from groceries that have specialty sections. The made up drinks traditionally have tons of sugar. Make your own.

Take a handful of the dried flowers boil until water turns deep scarlet. Drain and cool add just enough sugar to take the tart edge off. Drink two or more large glasses throughout the day. You'll notice your urine clearing up almost immediately. Keep drinking it for a few days after it all clears up. Continue drinking a glass a day and you should not have any problems unless you're one of those people who pound down sodas one after the other. For you folks who live in the southwest, try taking a large water bottle of your Jamaica (hamaica)when working outdoors or hiking. Will hydrate you and kill thirst much better than soft drinks and sweetened juices!

Easy to make. Works great. Best of all! cheap! Add in raw garlic daily 1 - 1 1/2 clove and you should be feeling great in a few days.

A note on the garlic. The capsules aren't worth it. A lot of the chemicals just aren't there.

Re: Kidney infection
Drink olive oil with lemon, lets say a tablespoon of each, several times a day.

And do castor oil packs! That helps the pain go away, these also work for kidney stones, had those and this helped with pain and dissolved them.

Well friend, I too have a nasty kidney infection right now. I also took over a week to see a doctor. I was doing the natural stuff. Didn't work or help. They started me on phenazopyridine and sulfamethoxazole -did work. The infection became antibiotic resistant. Then they gave me two antibiotic shots - which I cant remember the name of. And I am on ten days of ciprofloxacin - and the diarrhea is something fierce.

Oh I hope you get better soon,. I thought I was getting better but I am starting to think I am not.

use neodymium magnets on it. you need to put 2 on, one north one south. Either both on same kidney or 1 on on each kidney but still one north and one south.

Re: Kidney infection
Wondering if it could be more than an infection. My ex wife had severe pain in kidneys as well. After some test it turned out to be kidney stones. They were irregular shaped and had sharp edges which in turn caused internal cuts that got infected.

Eventually she was given treatment in a bath system that pulverized the stones with water shockwaves.

What is extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy?

Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is a technique for treating stones in the kidney and ureter that does not require surgery. Instead, high energy shock waves are passed through the body and used to break stones into pieces as small as grains of sand. Because of their small size, these pieces can pass from the body along with the urine.

What does the treatment involve?

There are two ways to remove stones using shock wave treatment. In one method, the patient is placed in a tub of lukewarm water. Using x-rays or ultrasound to pinpoint the location of the stones, the body is positioned so that the stones are targeted precisely. In the second, more common method, the patient lies on top of a soft cushion or membrane through which the waves pass. About 1-2 thousand shock waves are needed to crush the stones. The complete treatment takes about 45 to 60 minutes.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of this treatment?

The main advantage of this treatment is that many patients may be treated for kidney stones without surgery. As a result, complications, hospital stays, costs and recovery time are reduced. Unfortunately, not all types of kidney stones can be treated this way. In addition, stone fragments are occasionally left in the body and additional treatments are needed.

Re: Kidney infection
I had a raging kidney infection about 5 years ago. Pain was horrible. I cured it with oil of oregano. I took 3 3 times a day of the Oregamax (capsules) and then put 2 drops of the oreganol under my tongue like every 2 hours. I also painted it over the area. Worked like a charm and have not had one since. And yes, I was diagnosed at the doctors office as I had crystals in my urine.

Re: Kidney infection
hi OP

i have one kidney. had one removed because it became non-functioning during my first pregnancy. why? no idea. no problems before then

i was hospitalised and i had IV antibiotics at 4 months pregnant. it fixed the pain and infection but only a stop gap. every time i got another infection, my other kidney was infected and scarred

when baby was about 18 months, i had to have it removed. a few months after that, i was still getting pains in the remaining healthy kidney, so i had a temporary stent inserted to stent out scarred tubes

the pain is terrible. worse than labour pains, in as much as there is no respite

anyway, you may have an underlying problem. have you had your kidney function checked?

its certainly nothing to mess with, im sure you know

oh and initially they thought the cause was kidney stones. which i did have. turns out though that the stones were the symptom of very poor kidney function, not the cause of the infection
