FOOD PRICES *TRIPLE*, RATIONING, in Monrovia, LIBERIA due to Ebola State of Emergency

RATIONING:

“I have seen many households going to bed without food owing to the unbearable escalation of food prices at the Red-light Market,” Mrs. Washington lamented.

“Even the measurement sizes of greens of all varieties have been reduced to the extent that LD$500 cannot prepare decent meal for a family of five in Monrovia,” Mrs. Washington asserted.

That could easily happen here in the USA with our droughts ,already high food prices etc.etc.

Was just reading that the price of coke/coal has also tripled because of all the hot salt baths people are taking, not that it's having any curative or preventative effect.

Honey is really going up, where I'm at. I've been prepping it for 3 years, along with manuka honey. If you want to prep it, now is the time. It's going to get higher and higher. When I started, I could pick up a small thing of honey for $2.25. A week ago, it was up at $4.65 for the same size.

Wait until it stops the supply of cocoa beans and coffee and people in the US will go crazy when their chocolate and coffee is more expensive than gold...

I would pay triple for non-Ebola contaminated food.

Maybe even quadruple!

How sad.

They want those people dead. They will starve them out and give them the plague.

What a world.

Is there a reliable place to send food aid that actually gets to people in Liberia?

Is there a powdered food high in vitamin c that is not a laxative we could send in bulk?

Would they even eat what we would send or do they reject it as inedible? I don't fucking know.

If there's a place in the world (other than the river-fucking-ganges) where this awful strain of ebola is likely to mutate into something even worse its Liberia!

There will always be food. But most will not be able to afford it.

This has been told by wise men for many, many decades.

It looks like they are right. Stock up and hide it.

Wrong, idiot. Food prices have been dropping as of late.

And 70% of it is counterfeit. (China)

See, crazy thing is, you already pay alot for your food in the US.

Take the humble Oat.

In the rest of the world, people who eat the oat.
Not in the US.

We take the oat and turn it into Something akin to candy. Then we break up the candy and turn it into cereal. THEN we take the Cereal and turn it into a "breakfast bar".

Then we have marketing campaigns and huge businesses to compete over who gets to sell you the Breakfast bar.

The Oat? The oat is cheap. Cheap as hell. It's maybe 10 cents of that box of breakfast bars. So when the base price for food triples in the US, it goes up 20 cents.

Now, you triple the price of oat in other countries, they fuckin' starve. Because for them 20 cents is a day's wages.

It's the only upside of our huge supply of overprocessed foods, we are already overpaying SO much for what is basically quadrupal processed oat that there is a whole lot of cushion in the advent the base supply of food is threatened.

Vestertopia, it's going to happen in the U.S. ... if the warning dreams I've gotten become true ...
