I agree. I do wonder why they are going after this OP so much. I saw a poll about how concerned are you about ebola and people are quite concerned. More concerned then I expected.

A couple of years ago, I had a procedure done and requested a prayer thread on here... The hospital I was at, at the time, was Memorial Hermann Southwest. I am familiar with both hospitals though. I DO know that MHSW only has 2 (no more than 2) Negative Pressure rooms. I know, because I ask too many questions. The last time I was there, I asked a nurse what was special about the room across from me. He said, "It's a negative pressure room. This is where we would put someone if they had a contagious disease."

What I can also tell you is the MHSW has 2 waiting areas. The first one where patients/relatives mingle before they get triage. The second one is for patients who have already been seen and are awaiting a room to clear up. This second room holds people after they've already been IV'ed, etc.

Southwest Houston is one of the most culturally diverse areas of Houston. We are the hottest part of Houston's melting pot. We have Vietnamese/China town, a huge Central American community, and most people from Africa, and Middle Eastern descent live in the Southwest.

Any questions, shoot them my way before I pop into work in 30 minutes.

I am in Southeast as well, stay safe.

Myself- I spoke up because of the time difference- then it was pointed out FB does 1 hour displays for 24 hours. I said no dont take more screens, let's focus on the what ifs.

I didnt ask to be pinned or anything, I just wanted to put the info out there, I didnt make it more than it was, I just said what I heard, thats kinda what we do here :) I really hope it IS NOT Ebola, but incase it is , now we know to look there , ya know ?

I realize all that, and commend you for posting what you know, but people here seem to be believe anything that helps justify their fears, while totally ignoring any facts that may dispute their irrational belief system.

I just searched on FB for memorial herman hospital and it brought up a bunch of people who work there and they are all from Africa, mostly Nigeria. I was shocked that all of them that i could see were from Africa ... does anyone who knows this hospital know if most of the nurses and staff are Nigerian?

I too am in Houston, working down the street from the Intl airport..... I appreciate OP for posting this, even if her friend is full of it, I believe we need to be very watchful. This is by design is my gut feeling, I'm thinking we are going to be in big trouble soon

I have a feeling that when flu season hits things are going to get insane...... I'm in NE Texas and a lot of 'our' concern with this shit is with the border.

Some people around here are already wearing surgical masks to go shopping (like that would do fuck-all)......how much longer until we see people in respirators inspecting the tomatoes at the local market?

If there IS an actual outbreak, it will be hard to isolate with all the people in the grasp of flu season flooding the hospitals and Dr's offices thinking they're about to start bleeding out their ass.

Outside of people on sites like GLP, the main pop. is blind. They've got people looking elsewhere with things like The Ice Challenge (true story), Ferguson, Rick Perry, ISIS, Robin Williams...

I would tend to give more credence to "hear-say" than any pronouncements by the CDC or WHO. Their credibility is that bad.

There will be disinfo agents who will plant wild stories (this thread not being one of them) - we can parse out the truth by looking over many reports.

There will be a trend one way or the other. That will give us a general feel where we are going. In addition, biology will give us a clue. If at a certain point in time we have X known victims in country, the monthly multiplier has shown to be fairly constant. We can predict how many cases there will be in the future.

We don't need to know the exact number of infected; a general number will do. The point at which to Shelter In Place doesn't vary much with uncertainty - a month or so + / -.

However, NOT all ACs are shills. :)
