Mumbai: We are isolating 120 beds. We have been told that more than 100 passengers (on 7 flights) are suspected to have been exposed to Ebola
Ebola alert, hospitals stand by as planes with Indians from Liberia land in Mumbai
As many as 112 Indian nationals suspected to have been exposed to the Ebola virus are expected to land in Mumbai from Liberia on seven different flights Tuesday. Civic authorities, meanwhile, are busy creating an isolation facility in a suburban hospital.

According to a spokesperson for the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), the seven flights are carrying Indians evacuated from Liberia by the Indian embassy. Liberia is one of the four countries in West Africa affected by the Ebola virus.

While three flights will be diverted via Delhi, the remaining four will reach Mumbai directly at different times on Tuesday. All the flights are originating from Johannesburg.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is preparing 120 beds after it received an alert from the CSIA. According to acting executive health officer (EHO) at BMC, Dr Shreedhar Kubal, an action plan has been drawn up. “We are isolating 120 beds. We have been told that more than 100 passengers are suspected to have been exposed to Ebola,” Kubal said.

7 different flights, all landing at different times and landing at 2 different airports in separate busy cities in India... almost like they are just begging from trouble huh?

Also gotta love this part...

The medical team at CSIA has planned a five-step process for the safety of passengers, including parking the aircraft at an isolated bay. “The passengers will be screened at the step ladder itself. Those without symptoms will be cleared,” said an airport spokesperson.

So if someone onboard isn't showing signs yet, even if the guy 2 feet from them is, they will be cleared... sound like a fairly foolproof protocol don't ya think?

Wow, a planet wide comedy of errors. I didn't know the KeystoneCop method was really feasible with color and sound. Learn something new everyday.
Wouldn't it be great to be staffing one of those airplanes? What happened to all of those patients that looted and destroyed the hospital? It doesn't make sense. All those patients and no news but, it pops up worldwide?

Made me shake my head, from your original link:

According to a senior doctor in the BMC, only end-stage cases of Ebola virus are infectious. “The asymptomatic cases are not infectious and can be quarantined with other suspected cases in the same ward. Only when we are sure that they are infected, will we isolate them in totality,” the doctor said. Kubal said, “Right now, we are focusing on creating beds for suspected cases. Isolation chambers are not immediately possible.”

Can someone explain to me how they're going to identify those who are infected but not yet symptomatic in a planeside inspection? I'm no medical whizkid but hey?

That will be another 'first wave' that will go uncontrolled in 3 weeks.

You will hear of a hundred or more 21 days out, or we won't probably, then 6 weeks out they almost will not be able to hide it.

9 weeks out, we'll all know!

It has now become PAINFULLY obvious, kinda like the inciting of Race riots here, that TPTB have some really good stuff planned for this winter.

Re: Mumbai: We are isolating 120 beds. We have been told that more than 100 passengers (on 7 flights) are suspected to have been exposed to Ebola
I'm sorry, I've spent months at a time in India and although the people in general are very kind and hospitable, the concept of "clean" is not what we think of here in the west. I stayed at the Hotel Oberoi, one of the most expensive luxury hotels in Delhi, and watched in horror as the housekeeper cleaned first the toilet and then the bathroom sink using the same rag. She thought she was cleaning my bathroom....I wondered how many toilets that rag had seen.

On another occasion I was flying up to Kashmir from Delhi. The clerk at the airport check-in counter told me my suitcases were too heavy, it was not allowed. I said okay, I will pay extra. He say So sorry madam, it is too heavy. I said Yes yes, I will pay the extra. He said, it is too heavy for the plane. (Probably 85 pounds in two suitcases.) I said Oh, I see, well I will be right back. I stepped to the side and moved about thirty pounds of stuff out of my suitcase into my carry on bag, and went back to the counter. When he weighed my luggage again he said "Very good, madam." Well, duh, it's all going on the same plane. They don't bother to weigh your carry on bag. Genious, right?

So when I hear that they are creating a 120 bed quarantine for ebola, I just shake my head. I know they are well intentioned but the devil is in the details. It will be a miracle on the level of sainthood if they don't cause an epidemic there. The slums of Mumbai are no joke, this is a disaster in the making. I feel very sad about this.

This is beyond fucked up!

Given that most of us know ebola (and really, most contagious disease) is transferable before symptoms appear, this really is indefensible.

In reality, each non-symptom individual needs to be quarantined separately. One bad apple will spoil a bunch if you were to stick them all together.

If you miss just one infected individual, you risk epidemic.

This is a bad precedent to be set, but, really, India is doing more in this regard than most...it's just not nearly enough.

Omg this is so awesome.. we can only pray that these 100 passengers all kissed each other for good luck & if there was ever such a thing as good fortune.. they all hugged a security guard before they boarded their flight.

Don't you see what this means.. We're almost done, soon we'll be able to step outside take a long deep breath & know without a doubt, that it's truly and finally "Over". blobr

hang on - i thought the asymptomatic cases were going to be cleared at the airport

NONE of this makes sense

when the brits / us / spain repatriated they took positive unwell cases and brought them home in absolute isolation ONE AT A TIME

but now it's OK for india to have 100 potential cases floating about in jo'berg and then casually flown to 2 sites in india via 4 airline companies on 7 flights

FFS
this is blatant culling tactics -blatant !!
