Its what people have been doing for thousands of years, indeed, silver and gold are the only real money around, always, don't lose value, and there are some things you can't grow. Like a pound of salt. I sold four silver dollars for a tank of gas the other day, lets see you "grow" a tank of gas Dude, you're not getting what he said. If food is not available at the grocery store, who in their right mind will trade food for silver. Best to lay low because things will get downright ugly; people will be eating each other.
