She is a hypocritical embarrassment. The program is highly questionable and is in conflict with the USDA assertion that many poor school children only have access to food in schools. Even if it had the best intentions once a bureaucracy got it hands on it it was destroyed. The program is run by Education department with USDA. Schools need to get off the government teat when it comes to feeding their students. Federal education money is tied to how many children qualify for low cost or free lunches. Barbara Bush (first lady 1989 - 1993) promoted literacy and still does to this day. She did a weekly radio show where she read to children. She did not demand which books would and wouldn't be read to them or what books would be allowed in schools. |

Free speech is never free. Well I know it wasn't you who held me down Heaven knows it wasn't you who set me free So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains And we never even know we have the key - Eagles |

We have High school kids going to physical education after lunch and passing out because they didn't have enough calories - does that make the MSM? Of course not! Aggravates me to no end! Don't get mad - Get a Pepsi! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 60065443 Feeding them at home is not the point - from 8AM to 3:00 pm they need to have enough calories/carbs to make it 8 hours. I believe you can have a great lunch with enough calories and fat to keep brain cells working properly and keep them healthy! This is why, at the moment, my kids take lunches to school! Also, if you feed your child a HUGE breakfast, you think they will be lucid during morning classes? Uh uh! Same thing with lunches - you can feed a child a very healthy and filling lunch without overdoing it. Michelle O is off her rocker with the lunches she wants to give the kiddos! No self respecting parent in the last 20 years has allowed their kid to eat the government-subsidized waste "meals" served at public schools. Get off your lazy duff and make a bagged lunch. If your school gives you flak, get your doctor to endorse your child as having special dietary requirements. School lunch has been for welfare kids since the mid-90s. It is engineered to lower IQ and cause sickness. |

And the food is just tasteless. No one in their right mind would eat like this. This is an evil agenda. A wolf in sheep's clothing. |

Even before Michael got "her" nose into school lunches, they were terrible. All the lowest-grade meats and nearly expired canned veggies and fruits were given to the schools to make sure the kids were boosted up on BPA and BGH. Everything was fried in the bottom of the barrel oil, which contained so much hexane that it could not legally be sold. The milk was likewise contaminated with high levels of chlorine, because it was the feces-infected stuff passed over by the dairies. Now, of course, this is all still true and it's even worse with the GMOs in everything, and rising costs have made the quality decline so evident that the food is not only as un-nutritious as ever, but it even looks rancid. Ironically, the schools around here charge a little over two bucks per meal for their poisoned food, and for that kind of money you could eat pretty well! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 58351648 United States 09/04/2014 04:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here is why! We have WW3 on our door, ISIS is growing, economy is screwed up, food prices ARE UNACCEPTABLE......GAS PRICES ARE UNACCEPTABLE Well now, we have a leader forcing people to eat a certain way but they fail to even touch other major issues. THIS is the proof of a failed leadership. I would focus on reducing living costs in this country. If all utilities were mandated to not exceed a certain profit margin, under a law of Human Compassion for Required Resources. All utilities become non-profit organizations. They still bill the consumers, but only just enough to maintain the system, payroll, maintenance, etc. This will put a huge amount of extra money into every home and business. EVERY ONE would have lots of extra money. Which supercharges the economy. Makes sales, more jobs, growth!!! But no, we have a leadership hell bent on fat kids eating carrots! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 60065443 Eating HUGE meals is exactly how you get fat! You have to eat 5-6 SMALL meals per day including snacks (healthy snacks) for a healthy metabolism and low weight. Anyone who thinks eating HUGE meals at any time during the day is a good idea is most likely suffering from acid reflux, diabetes, or is overweight themselves (or all three). |

I laugh every time I think about the assertion that poor children only have access to food in schools. That is the only place they DON'T. work in a school and see how much gets tossed. Unedible. Or simply not what so and so wanted. The snack machines do well. What a joke. Real poverty and hunger are terrible things that should NOT be manufactured to "justify" trashing school lunches from the fed level. Liberalism is totalitarianism with a human face – Thomas Sowell |
