It takes no skill to drive a pickup truck
Pickup trucks arent even manuals..

People who drive cars are safer and better drivers.

I have never seen a beat up Prius , but I have seen a beat up pickup.

Re: It takes no skill to drive a pickup truck
People who drive pickup trucks are losers. I'm sick of hearing them driving their shitty loud trucks up and down my street polluting the air with the shit smell and noise. Like you don't look cool. And one day I was pulling out of this small street, only wide enough for cars to go one way. It wasn't a 1 way street though. But these two trucks turned on the street when I was about to leave, and we kind of just stayed parked. I wasn't backing up cause I would of had to back up the whole street. I noticed there was enough room for me to drive to the right of them. But nope. This asshole started driving forward when I was about to pull out. And he forced me to back up the whole street. I was pissed. I watched what driveway he pulled into, he messed with the wrong person.

I would venture that it takes a similar amount of skill to operate a pickup truck vehicle as it would a car, minivan...prius vehicle. My thoughts on it.

Not saying this for all truck owners...but atleast where i live people use trucks on the farm. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out farm work may ding up your vehicle.

Who needs skill when you have no need to stay on the road. Curbs who cares, just a speed bump.

You have it backwards: any Fool can drive a Prius.
Volkswagen's are always looking for drivers.
Most drivers can not even handle a car properly.

It takes real skill to properly handle a pickup truck,
especially in bad weather.
Most of those Pickups have unskilled drivers, thus the beat up condition.

Huh I need a pick up for work and you can have manuals. I don't get it? Plus they take as much skill as a car and judging by 90% of the idiot drivers out there, nobody needs skill nowadays.

Plus the idiot driving the prius bangs it up and gets it fixed instantly. The redneck driving the pick up says fuck it, I am not paying to fix that bump. My last truck was written off because some idiot in a car swerved into my lane doing 120. His car was fucked. His fault

Same as a car, unless it is a dually (sp?). They take up the whole lane.

You have obviously never drove an empty two wheel drive pick-up in the snow.

THIS!

Most working pickups tow trailers at least half the time, sometimes two at a time. Most Prius drivers would get a heart attack handling tandem trailers in the snow, or even going through a truck stop.

Many of the heavier hauling pickups run five and six speed manual gearboxes. It's usually cheaper to buy an automatic though, especially on the used market. I've yet to see a compound box or two speed axle on a pickup though. That would be my choice.

Op has not quite got to grips with functionality yet, would be hilarious to see farm work being done in a Prius.

None of the new trucks offer a manual transmission anymore. Combination of an extremely low take rate by buyers and pollution control standards.
