Huge CME Just Popping Off. - UPDATED STORM FORECAST:

Region 2158 produced a long duration M4.5 solar flare this evening peaking at 00:29 UTC. The event was associated with Type II and Type IV radio emissions, along with a 10cm Radio Burst (Ten Flare) measuring 370 solar flux units and lasting 10 minutes. A coronal mass ejection (CME) is now visible in the latest LASCO C2 imagery. More details to follow regarding a possible Earth directed component.

Any idea on the K index topout? I've been wanting to see some good aurora dip further south to where I live, but we haven't had a flare for awhile that has done that.

If it were to hit....I'm not sure....I'll guess a Kp4.

I hear ya...I need at least a 7, but then got to thinking about my internet connection lol...stupid wild blue. Seen a small arora display at a 5.5 earlier this summer, but it didn't last long and was a bit to far north.

I wish we had those missing 6 hours of data. I sure would like to see whats on them.

Thanks for the heads up btw. SolarHam is one of my pinned tabs, but I only check it about once a day.

I guess if I lose my internet connection, then your predicted 7 is the culprit. If so, I will know to go outside and start filming if it holds into the dark hours.
