ISIL embodies the core of islam. Islam certainly condones, in fact encourages the killing of innocents. The assertion that so many victims have been muslim is misleading. Many were raised muslim or had muslim ancestors, but they no longer practiced or practiced the religion half-heartedly and did not abide by the tenets of islam as dictated in the quran. Those were killed because they were viewed as no better than the infidels.
