It sounds to me like they took a virtually extinct, possibly now extinct, creature and killed it. When are humans going to learn that taking these creatures apart does nothing to further our nor their existence? Even if it was already dead, it's quite possible the ocean could have benefited from it's decay. But, anyway. Fuku. |

Creatures from deep ocean depths die when hauled up to the surface. Has something to do with pressure. Check it out. "Throw it back" lololololol. |

It appears you are somewhat correct- some deep sea creatures do have this issue. Some don't. Either way, this creature was doomed- if it was alive, it would be kept in a tank to be studied. We have no respect for other beings. All the best. |

I forget that I'm alone in how I feel about these things. I just wish we had more respect for the earth and it's creatures, and I don't think science is helping anything, in fact, quite the opposite. But I'm done. Carry on. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 61435155 Wow. Can't believe I came back for more. I forget that I'm alone in how I feel about these things. Quoting: Beetlejuice The 350kg female was caught a couple of months ago in the Ross Sea off the coast of Antarctica by a team fishing for Patagonian toothfish. Pulled from a depth somewhere between 1200m and 1800m, it weighed about 350kg and was 3.5m long from fin to tentacle. Moar: [link to www.businessinsider.com] The dissection: Calamari ! YUMMY !!!
