Anonymous Coward User ID: 58063360 United States 03/06/2015 01:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My dad had a friend who used to race sailboats around the world. This race is one man to a boat. Says he was miles and miles from anyone else and several hundred miles off the coast when he saw a multi-colored ufo come up out of the water and into the sky. You have to have lots of balls to enter into these races because after the start you're largely on your own. Pretty scary stuff when the weather gets bad. He says these guys have a game they play sometimes when they get bored. They throw a hundred foot line off the end of the boat, jump into the water and try to catch the tail end of the line as it pulls past them while the boat is under sail and unmanned. Talk about some crazy shit. The racers have a name for it but can't remember. |

A dolphin coming out of the water and blowing out it's blow hole about 10ft from me in Ventura County. Seals gliding through the waves as we surfed them in Washington State. Craziest thing I saw I guess was a whale that hung out about 200' off Newport Beach for a few weeks. All morning long that thing would cruise up & down the surf line playing. |

Never believed it was real until I saw it myself. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27648326 This can happen anywhere on the ocean when the sun sets. It's a brief green flash at the point the sun goes down over the horizon. Most sailors have seen it one time or another. That's weird. May be more to it than just light? Green flash. Very popular with surfers on Waikiki Beach (Honolulu) I have seen green flash many times. It's very brief. I came. I saw. I Concorde. For once you have tasted Concorde you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return. From the window (portal) of our room I could see a massive jellyfish swimming towards one of these begging kids. The thing must have been 6 or 7 feet in diameter. When the jellyfish reached the kid, the kid picked it up with his bare hands, tore it in half & it sunk. The kid was younger than me & I was only about 12 at the time. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 33023292 United States 05/04/2015 12:00 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Having worked on the Gulf Coast most of my Life I have a few good ones. I've seen and heard of stories that Freaked me out. One that I was told by a childhood friend that had done long lining out in the GOM for Sword fish. A local resident and his family went missing having their boat sink and never heard from again until my friend looked out in the water where what looked like a Body floating. He moved the boat over to see just what it was. As my buddy got closer it was a Body. He called the CG and told them what was up and being FAR out in the gulf my friend decides to get the body on board. They tried to grab the guy but went for the gaff hook, using it to pull the body aboard, as they/crew pulled this guy up it was falling apart in their hands. Basically it was like soap in texture so using the gaff was their only option. He told me a Big Ass Tiger shark was just down below the body and sprung up at them trying to stop them from taking it's meal. The Tiger shark was Grabbing hold of what was left of the guys leg's. They managed fight the shark off to pull the body on board and the CG came and got it. No way in Hell would I have done that. BTW if you want to go to Panama City, Fl. Diving/Swimming Google the area where the most people have been killed by sharks. Panama City Ranks #1 the last time I looked. Another Fact which I have seen and heard are Great Whites don't just like Cold water, they cruise the waters in Panama City. They don't tell you that in the brochure.. |

Anus the Heinous User ID: 6913468 United States 05/04/2015 02:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was at a remote Island in the North Pacific working. We were loading a Japanese transport with cargo. The Vessel was almost full, and was sitting pretty low in the water. I had finished my shift, it was an unusually clear and calm night, and I was just hanging around the deck looking over the rail on how glassy and calm the water was. This Sea Lion poked its head up out of the water almost an arms reach from me and stared me in the eye for seemed about 1 minute or so. It probably outweighed me by 100 pounds. Then just quickly and silently disappeared. It was freaky... Heinous Anus... Where Blather Meets Godzilla! Throbbing with semi-liquid contents... And Ready to Spew... |

We would run fishing lines while underway. I had been getting ready to pull my line in when I saw a what looked like a Whale breaching out of the water. There are whales out there but nothing that Big.. Looked like a VW was being slammed back into the water twice. WTH? Then off to the port side there was a Fin that came up from out of the blue. SOB! What is it? The Fin was around 10 to 15 foot above the top of the water making a sharp turn similar to what a shark would do. It looking like a one man sail boat. I thought I was seeing things? Whales then this Fin that was over my head as I stood at the side of the Tug boat. Lucky for me there was the Captain that had seen it standing near where I was. I asked did you see that? Yep! What the Hell was it? Don't have a clue? After reading other stories on here I have to say it looked like the picture of the Sun fish. It's the best I can come up with. It had to be the Monster of all Sunfish. In all my years I have never seen one, but they are common for the GOM. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 33023292 United States 05/04/2015 09:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sitting in the wheelhouse around 2am with the Mate/Captain a Blip came up on the Radar behind the barge we were pulling across the GOM. 500 to 600 hundred yards back from the Tug. Ok what is this? I got up and looked at the Radar myself and sure enough there's a Blip following us. It got closer to the stern of the barge and then went over the barge and was heading down the Tow wire directly to the stern of the Tug. I went out on the upper deck with the binoculars and looked back and saw nothing? I went back inside and saw the blip was still moving in from the stern. What the hell is it? Malfunction of the Radar screwed up? off or what? Adjustments are made trying to see if the blip would just go away by those means. It didn't. It came on till it was at the back of the tug. I walked out on deck again looking.. I saw nothing.. It continued on up over the radar on top of the wheel house and disappeared off the screen. It never happened again. No Bird, No lights, This happened years ago but it got my attention to remember it |
